Was pretty cool to see Kimball win. Not the most exciting race, but enjoyable anyway.

I actually enjoyed that race, although others seem to have found it boring.
I always like it when strategies are mixed, and it is especially rewarding to see the more aggressive one win (in this case).

I don't find the Push2Pass very transparent. The first time I consciously saw it on screen, it was to announce that Kimball only has 1 P2P left. I wonder what the drivers did with their P2Ps in the first 80 laps of the race. Or did I just not pay enough attention?

But I wonder how Dixon, Power, et al. could actually think for a second that their strategy could have won them the race? It was off by 30 seconds or something! How do they actually calculate the strategies? Do they use the Yi Jing?

So do we now have 175 laps of Mid-Ohio without a yellow flag?

It started out looking like a fuel saving race and was a bit dull, but I thought it really livened up towards the end

Dixie made an incredible hash of his strategy. First picked the wrong one. Then compounded by changing too late to a 3 stopper. Then inexplicably stopping early on the last stop to end up behind EVERYONE. That was the really perplexing one. Dario manage to end up 3rd when before that they were together all race.

The 2 stop meant that they were relying on upwards of 10+ caution laps. Would have made the strategy work perfectly, but when the race went green for 90 laps, it created a situation like the Spanish GP of this year. Conserving fuel and tires just wasn't going to win the race. That much saving would have dropped you behind too far to reap any benefits from one less pit stop. Charlie and Pagenaud went at 100% for the entire race and that is where their time over the 3 stoppers came from.

Really? He's only finished outside the top 10 once all season. Pretty much unrivalled consistency.

Momentous win for Kimball, not least of all because they'll be changing his commercial's opening line.

what about the incident in qualifying between Reay and Visio when Reay pushed Visio to the outside of a turn? It looked like a douche move on Reays part without seeing what happened before.

Well yeah that's what I meant. He's super consistent, but very under the radar for the most part. Not counting TO#2, this has been something like a fourth race in the row where I haven't seen him for most of the race, only for him to wind up in the top 10 by the end of the race.

Well, in his report on Speed's "Speed Center" Sunday night, Robin Miller said Don Branson was a Type 1 diabetic, and he had a few USAC championship car wins. (Plan to ask about this over in The Nostalgia Forum, 'cuz I'd never heard this before.)

Kimball's had himself a nice season so far -- could, probably should have won Pocono, and he's been quick at a few other races this year. Nice, deserved win, now let's see if this is a springboard for him.

Until he really became a problem, when Pagenaud came out running right in front of Kimball did Viso become an issue. He was running pretty well in front of Kimball and IMO, a blue flag wouldn't have done much as Viso would just fight to take his lap back (and risk taking out Kimball, which the officials would know).

Andrew, but he cannot afford tires, as the rears as using casters. Poor guy fell far didn't he?

They do. It's much more difficult to spot them at a place like Mid-Ohio though.

No. Pikachu's partly correct, Sato has relatively little of note since the race at Sao Paulo.

Hence "relatively little". Five consecutive races classified 20th or below must be a record even considering Sato's 2010 season.

Sato has shown speed in some of the previous races, but has been outpaced by Carpenter on Sunday. Ed Carpenter FFS!

Really enjoyed that one despite the lack of amusing incidents (unless you count the quick drivers on the go-slow strategies getting beaten by the slow drivers on the go-quick strategies, which was pretty amusing). Kimball was flawless and Castroneves might just win the championship this year after all. NBC Sports did a fabulous job with the coverage -- an Indycar fuel mileage race where I actually felt like I knew what was going on. It would be just like Indycar to sign up with ESPN now. Two things that penetrated my consciousness:

1) Charlie Kimball was born in the same hospital as me.

2) Why does Helio look directly into the camera lens when he's giving interviews? It creeps me out.
