A much missed class of 'REAL' racing bikes & full grids, here is Eurosport commentator James Haydon in 1993 on the Team Great Britain TZ250.

Great pics as usual.

I do admit to having a soft spot for proper racing "stinkwheels"

They take me back to my early years on TZs etc.

Great photo's, and yes I also miss riding them, and although I wouldn't have thought back in the days when I was spending many long and frustrating hours inside the little blighters that i'd be ever saying this, I also miss working on them and getting them set up properly.

Hi Paul

two of us are sneaking a few days at the Grand Prix (sorry classic TT & MGP Festival), later this month, do you know any seedy pubs in Douglas, that inject two stroke fumes into the bar, where we can cry into our beer?

was good ear the mid 90's a few guys like Jamie Rob and Walker in that Snett pic, Walker would only have been racing a year or so in that pic.

I remember Rob Frost running that Docshop bike too, Newton always spent a fortune on Prillers, but they only went good on some tracks.

Sadly 125 racing was always better, more quick bikes

Indeed, Chris Walker had been racing less than a year when this picture was taken.

Hi Paul, The Queens down on the prom in Douglas is good for a pint with the lads, you'll always find a mixed group of classic and modern lads in there, its at the far end of the prom heading towards the old Summerland site, you cant miss it as there is usually a good few people outside at the front

I'll pm my mobile to you, text me if you want and we'll try to meet up one evening.

PS remember if you use your UK phone on the IOM you'll get roaming charges so if you intend to use the phone a lot during your visit try and bring an unlocked phone and buy a local sim card for it.

Quite a few of the old watering holes have gone. The 'Dogs Home' in Strand Street and the Groudle Glen have gone. If there was any sense of history these places would have been listed and preserved for the nation.
The first Manx I rode in in 1973 there was the Villiers Hotel with the live band each night, the next year the live music hall had been 'divied' up into smaller parlours with some old Dorris playing 'tea room' music on an organ. ):
Haven't been back since my last Manx in 1982

I think the beginning of the end was when they closed the Yates' s Wine Lodge near the ferry terminal. Where else, in the day, could you sink into oblivion for less than the cost of the fried breakfast that you couldn't look at the following afternoon!

Just home from loading the van up ready to take the 250 and 500 up to Jurby tomorrow evening after work, they have a practice session up there and we need to get a few steady laps done on each to check them out for the parades.

We fired the RS250 up and gave her a gentle warm up before loading up, lovely to feel that throttle response, hear that crackle, and smell that smell again :)

Remember Marra that year, it was 94 I think and Marra was dumped by Honda after they went with Bosworth instead, they both wanted to go GP but Honda or Yamaha didn't have the bikes, so MArra was unemployed and just put the team together!  My mate used to get his fairings done at Caste Customs too!

Boz's bike was fairly trick, but this was the hyear Vincent came to the fore, and walloped everyone on a TZ!  Awesome rider and bike combo, think Marra didn't finish the year not sure. But Newt was his closest rival.

That's the one Gra

Capirossi rep Bieffe lid, I think he won the first round.

Isnt Stpehen Farmer related to Keith Farmer of BSB fame or was it Mark?  I think both of them sadly passed away? Was he team mates to Eugene McManus who broke out pretty much in 94 too?

Keith Farmer is the late Mark Farmers Nephew, not sure if Stephen Farmer is related? though he too is now gone, accident at his place of work. Not sure if he & Eugene were team mates?
