Dear all, I'm interviewing Stoffel Vandoorne, the young Belgian racer who drives in the Renault 3.5 series and joinerd McLaren's young driver programme in February, for a short piece in a Belgian weekly - it will be used to announce the Belgian GP.

Now I would like to add some good questions to ask a young driver, so that's why I'm asking for your input: what should I ask? Thanks in advance!

Perhaps ask him about the process of how he became part of Mclaren's driver programme? E.g. how was he approached, how he was accessed (what he had to do) etc etc

Why the name 'Vandoorne' and not 'Van Doorne' ?

- What does a typical week in a Renault 3.5 series-driver (and a McLaren's young driver programme participant) look like?
- How do you like spending your free time? And how do you re-charge your batteries after a race-weekend?
- Which skills do you think you still can improve on?
- Who is your favorite racing driver of all time?

Ask him if he sees a chance becoming a McLaren F1 driver without having a famous family name.

What does he think about the fact that promising young racing drivers like Frijins, Wickens, (both previous champions in the series he is currently competing in), etc. fail to make any headway into getting their dream F1 'pinnacle of motor racing' job.

Either that or his view on the fundamental entropic characteristic of our perceived macrocosm in witch decay is the ultimate unyielding truth. Or his favorite band/color. You know.. whatever.

- Who do you see as your biggest rival (perhaps for an F1 seat)?

Ask him if there is someone from his early racing career that he think had great talent but had to give up for financial reasons

You mean like 'Button' or 'Perez'?

Do you read what people say about you (on Twitter, or forums like this one)?

Does he use the fact that he is a racing driver to pick up chicks?

Actually it's a good question, if he participates in forums like this one.

Does he feel more confident racing in the sim world or the real world? And how does he rate the quality of some of his sim racing opponents alongside his real life ones?

His thoughts on some of his fellow competitors. Who does he rate highly?
Does he follow other motor sports?
