Would anyone be able to ID the car, driver and the circumstances surrounding this photo?

Going on the registration plate of the Lada this looks like something to do with the Cup of Peace and Friendship over to Alexey Rogachev me thinks

Either a very safety-conscious Italian driver proposing to his girlfriend or the photo is not as old as it looks... I can be of no further assistance, but I am sure myriad stories could be woven about the picture. Having said that, the driver's profile has a ring of familiarity.

My guess it in Argentina Buenos Aries and a Fiat 124 .The race car is a Brabham F2 copy. Properly a advertisement shot.
