Hi Jeff
Robert Barg and I were thinking of going, but by the time we thought of it (early August), the reasonably priced accommodation seemed to be booked up, even as far away as Gilroy. So we're not going. I see the Best Western Beach Dunes Inn has some king-bed/non smoking rooms...for $300 a night.
I'm hoping to go next year...Formula Atlantics should be running again...but not Ferrari apparently (they've run every ten years since 1984). I hope to book a couple of reasonably-priced rooms early for next year and maybe a group of us can go.

At this late date, you might have to settle for something as far away as Morgan Hill or San Jose, which entails a commute of one hour or more each way.
I've stayed at Gilroy and Watsonville several times while attending the Historics, but even those accomodations I had to book months in advance.

We stayed at Santa Cruz - worth a try even at this late stage. Over one hour travel time
