I have recent purchased a chassis which had been in store since the 1970's which I plan to rebuild for the 2014 season. Information on theses cars is sparse therefore I would like to make contact with anyone who can provide information.
Members of Team Alexis would be good but also the drivers :- Ken Bailey, Ken Sedgely, Dick Barker, and Ken Crook. I would also like to make contact with Stephen Choularton who ran an early Atlantic car described as an Alexis Mk 17 in the UK in 1971. It is possible that my chassis is that car as it has been converted to take a twin cam engine.

Hi
Don't suppose you are still looking but you would have to look in Sydney, Australia. Came down here in 1993. You can get me on stephen@organicfoodmarkets.com.au if I can be of any help.

Stephen Choularton has proved to be an excellent contact and my car is 99.9% certain to be the car raced by him in the Atlantic class during 1971.
I would also like to make contact with an Alexis team driver David Cole and Bobby (Bob) Howlings race car dealer from Manchester.

You won't have any luck finding Bobby Howlings, he died some time ago.
His son Steve Worrad was involved in historic racing but I doubt he knows much of Bobby's dealings - the last I heard he was in the Algarve/Portugal.

I used to race against Ken Crook and his brother Fred in F4 in the Seventies. The last I heard he was a director of some sort of engineering company in the Midlands but that was a few years ago. The obvious source of a lot of Alexis knowledge would be Duncan Rabagliati but I would be staggered if you haven't spoken to him already...

Does anyone have a picture of Stephen Choularton racing his Alexis Mk 17 in the Atlantic race at Mallory Park on March 28th 1971?

My Father is Ken Crook he is still alive and very muck kicking. Fred his older brother died last year from a long battle with prostate cancer but I know they both loved racing and now Ken tells his grandaughter about time spent with good friends racing. I dont know if he can help but if you want to contact me I can pass info. Kindest regards Julie

Hi Julie, many thanks for your kind offer. From the published records, your father raced the Alexis Mk17 F3 car at least 7 times in 1969. I would welcome the opportunity to capture his memories of the car and Team Alexis. I would also like to ask some questions about the car, its setup and whether he has any photos from that time. All the Alexis records were burnt by the last owner of the company so this is an excellent opportunity to get a first hand understanding of the car and the period.
Ken can contact me at mike.broome@hotmail.co.uk or on 0208 337 1572.
Best regards
Mike

Does anyone know when seat belts became mandatory for racing?
My Alexis Mk17 chassis has never had the mounting lugs fitted so has clearly been in store a long time!
