Yeah! The reliable forecasts are those of 6 minutes to the future or so
The break has been way too long...

You realize you could make a lot of money doing this, right?

Can Lotus take the fight to Red Bull? Can Ferrari step it up? Can Mercedes maintain their form? Will it be a walk to the title for Vettel?
F1 is almost back!

There we go, proper season coming. No more 3 weeks breaks. 9 races in approx 90 days
Just a shame there's so many terrible tracks in the second half of the season. Singapore, Korea, India, Abu Dhabi...

Posted 19 August 2013 - 14:53
It's going to boil down to which cars can hold on through sector 2 without killing their tyres. Add in a dash of rain and it will be impossible to call.
My only criticism is that they should open up the run off at La Source.

Let's see if Alonso can finally shake off the bad luck he's had at this track and get a good result on Sunday!

I was there last year. I'm going to hazard a guess and say was that the Friday? I have never been so soaked. My waterproofs couldn't cope. On the Sunday I got sunburnt. We were also on Kemmel.
This will be my 3rd year on the trot. Love it.
Hopefully the weather will be a bit nicer this year.
Enjoy the race.

I've been 3 times.
Not been since 2011 and I wish I'd booked.
Always brilliant there. I know everyone travelling will love it.
I hope for a wet/dry race. Mix it up a bit.

I hope kimi can claim another vicotry at spa. Would be his fifth, just like the legends schumacher and senna.
#22

Hoping for a dry race here. Mercedes had huge top speed here last year, if they can qualify well they will be hard to pass on track. Or then Kimi needs to pull a move like he did on Schumacher...

Kimi winning would be great, but it has been very hard to bet on Vettel having two bad races in a row.

Except he didn't. His first win at Spa was in 2010.

Well Ian Fergusson (BBC) says Friday pretty much certain to be dry, as for Saturday and Sunday impossible to predict and it could rain at any point over Saturday/Sunday

Vetted hardly had a bad race. Grosjean on the other hand had a bad race. Should be exciting to see the cars back on track again. Hoping for a resurgent Ferrari to help take the fight to RBR.

#33

Except he didn't. His first win at Spa was in 2010.
Guess you didn't see that one... Amazing battle against two great drivers. It looked like a win to me when you see the guy who drove the best race receive the trophy and spray champagne on the top step. I don't care what the records say the guy listed as the winner was something like 12-15 seconds behind. I almost walked away from F1 after they handed those points to Massa.
Bring on Spa and let's hope Grosjean doesn't wreck the race there again... al'a 2012/2009.

2 DRS zone for Spa
http://www.gpupdate....-two-drs-zones/
The first zone, retained from previous visits to the venue, is situated on the run down to Eau Rouge, with the activation point coming at the start of the Kemmel Straight.
the second zone located along the start/finish straight, following a detection point just before the Bus Stop chicane.
so, for
DRS zone 1, detection is where T2 is, i.e before T3 (eau rouge), activation zone is T6-T7
DRS zone 2, detection is before T19, activation is T20-T1 (on this map)
#36
Posted 21 August 2013 - 12:12
I don't like DRS usage at this circuit

Way to overpowered then by the looks of it, and honestly don't know what the FIA are thinking putting a double DRS at Spa, a track that doesn't even need one.
I think if we have DRS zones, they should be put in places that are not an overtaking spot ( a bit like T20- T1). This gives the chance for a driver to stay with the driver in front, then they can have a non DRS assisted overtake through kemmel straight to Lea Combes. Similar would of worked well at Bahrain with there second DRS, gets them a bit closer then they can have a better attempt at overtaking on the main straight, but like Spa they put two DRS zones and make the overtaking way to easy.

Friday will be dry, Saturday mixed, Sunday anyone's guess. Seems like it should be dry on the Sunday for most of the country, except the region in which Spa is located.
#39
Posted 21 August 2013 - 12:57
Impossible to predict with any degree of accuracy for Saturday or Sunday at the minute. Only Friday seems to have high confidence regarding the weather (dry). Obviously no guarantee if it does rain on Saturday or Sunday that it'll affect any of the F1 track action. Theroretically we could have 5 bone dry F1 sessions with rain/wet track an hour either side of all of the sessions, but a bone dry track for the F1

As for DRS, yeah, it's too long (the first zone that is). Should've been significantly shorter in my view.

One race in seven weeks is a joke, and I can't even remember the last race.
But it's good that it's back and there's quite a few races in the last part of the season, with fewer breaks in between.
Spa is an amazing track.

Spa is like Nurburgring. It rains even when they're not expecting it to.
My dream scenario is for it to rain on the formation lap, just as they're pulling up on the grid with slick tyres on.

Oh man, I was there last year - really gonna miss it this year!
This was my weather experience - sunburnt on Thursday, DRENCHED on Friday, roasting on Saturday, cool on Sunday.
Love Spa, really looking forward to the weekend!

As far as I remember there hasn't been a wet race yet this year, so I'd like to see some rain. It would be interesting to see how the order is shaken up and if Mercedes apparent traction advantage would be significant.

A wet weekend would definitely help RBR on what is probably their second worst track until the end of the season - not good for the championship(s) if you ask me.

DRS on Kemmel Straight?... what's the point? it will look so artifical that it will be beyond being silly. People with best top speed will just go past like tghere is no tomorrow. You could be even slower than the car ahead, just to keep within 1sec before the DRS zone. Silly stuff.
