BBC reports that Suzuka has extended its Formula One deal until 2018.

Great news, considering that there was some talk about leaving it out of the 2014 calendar.

They reached basic agreement on new 5 years extension deal back in March already, but this time it's formal one :)

Wonderful news. It at least secures another race track, as opposed to these car parks.

Good! Now all they need to do is sign a new contract with the old Osterreichring in its original configuration instead of its current RedBulldoucherring layout.

I have a feeling that's not exactly possible ;)

Suzuka is one of my favourite track-layouts, and it usually makes for one of the more interesting qualifying sessions of the year. But recent races haven't exactly set the world on fire.

Still, it's nice to have a Grand Prix in Japan. It might as well be at Suzuka.
