Thanks Stephen. I'll change that caption. I have an article on the car in SCW and I figured it was probably Ian Hindmarsh but always good to check.

I think you will find that was the 90s. The Fiction never started until the late 70s and MN was in the 90s until recently. It was an online for a while, then became 'paid' and I think has disappeared.
I bought the Fiction right through the 80s and 90s the when MN was around usually only bought one or the other. Though for a period had both delivered.

Auto Action definitely started early '70s (1971?) and Australian Motorsport News (name?) was a similar 'newsprint' fortnightly production with race, rally etc reports from all over Australia. Not sure when it commenced but was definitely the first half of the '70s.

MN was not available here in SA until the 90s. I guess another Eastern states mag. Many were never true national. I bet the West Aussies got even less magazines.
I was not aware of the Fiction until late 70s, 76 77? either, though I feel that was largely a Victorian mag early.

Auto Action was definitely around before 1973... I recall writing an article for them just after my first stint at RCN...

The really odd thing is that Max is now writing for them.

A mate of mine has all issues of Auto Action incl No1 and it was first published in 1971 with Frank Gardner in the Lola T300 at W Farm on the cover from memory. I agree Ray, it is a bit strange to see Max

writing for AA........

By the way, I think Lee is getting mixed up between Motoring News and the much newer Motorsport News (is that what it's called?)...

This was the direct competitor to Auto Action in recent years.
