We are over the 4000 post mark, so a new thread is needed.

No jumping the gun on the team mate battle.

Auto Motor und Sport: Raikkonen Moves to Ferrari In 2014

8 September 2013

Bz6nOsR.jpg

"Officially, Ferrari will decide this coming week which driver drives next to Fernando Alonso in 2014. Our spies report however that the choice has already been made. Kimi Raikkonen has won the race against Felipe Massa and Nico Hulkenberg."

Well since China is now steadily becoming the greatest untouched market in the world I think that's affecting Ferrari's decision. Chinese people are not impressed by the all-Latin pairing that was ideal for Santander's goals in South America, so if Ferrari wants to sell cars to the increasing amount of rich people in the 1.3 billion inhabitants of China they might very well take a driver who seems to be popular over there:

not baiting any Alonso Vs kimi debate or troll post ... so please don't respond to this post in that sense  :)

A Trip back in memory lane

i'll certainly love if the journos in the next race asks Alonso on having kimi as his teammate ... it would be fun  look at what happened last time when the status quo was reversed ... and what's even funny is that they were in the same 2 teams (albeit different name) back then.

also, i still can't quite believe kimi will drive for ferrari ... seems surreal still   ... it'll take time to cure the hangover for many of us. still remember what kimi said last time when ferrari let him go.  :stoned:

look how relaxed (and almost seems relived in some way) i still find it amazing today.

Ferrari: Anuncio inminente

Luca di Montezemolo doesn't refrain to comment the possibility. "Nothing happened with Kimi, we won a title with him. He's a great driver and for us it was a great satisfaction to win the first title without Schumacher and Brawn. We haven't signed anything, however there are other possibilities, like happened last year when we decided to keep on going with Felipe", assured him.

It seems that LdM was very happy about Kimi proving that Ferrari was not dependent of MS and RB, like it used to be said.

No bad blood among them

Kimi is about to start the greatest job on the world. "Kimi, what do you do?" ... "I get paid millions to race a red car every other weekend"...."That must involve a lot of simulator work, pressure, PR work etc.?" .... "No, not really"....

I don't even think he really wants to win another championship. Good races with a car that listens to him, with a few wins and podiums tossed his way would make him happy.

some info regarding delay in announcement

Bild reported that the long delay in the actual signing of Raikkonen's deal is because part of his management team, David Robertson, is in hospital in the US with cancer.
Der Spiegel claims to even know who will pay Raikkonen's approximately EUR 20 million salary -- partly the Alonso-linked Spanish bank Santander, and partly team sponsor Shell.

Kimi to Ferrari? Until last night I didn’t believe it. Now I don’t know what to think. If the rumours are true, the next week will be mad.

Not saying, asking. Personally I very much doubt that Alonso's going anywhere.

The Germans say Alonso goes back to Enstone for an incredible 3rd stint with Santander and salary assured by Renault.

Will Buxton ‏@willbuxton 11m
The Spaniards, so far at least, have heard no such thing. It’s all moving very fast. Changing all the time. Fascinating times.

this is going mad.

Not that i want to read anything in it, but at the end of the race, on the podium, alonso also threw his cap into the crowd, just like kimi did the last time he drove for ferrari in 2009

If Renault are willing to pay Alonso's salary at Lotus, then it could be happening. But very little chance, I think. I'd stick with ALO/RAI lineup.

Pekka Franck will release new details about Kimi's contract today/tomorrow. Steve Robertson said to finnish tv YLE that there was no signed contract wednesday ( deal done earlier) and he is the one who signs Kimi's deal not Kimi himself.

I reckon Santander and Alonso is bulletproof locked into Ferrari.
Keeping grosjean is probably a factor in Renault returning to Enstone

As a Chinese I am sorry to suggest that 98% of Chinese people could not tell nor could not care about the difference between Latins, Americans, Europeans or  Scandinavians.

All we have been told is that white skins are Americans, blacks are Africans and yellow are Asian. Also we would only care about whether the drivers are Chinese or non-Chinese :drunk:  :drunk:

But it would be Santander guaranteeing Alonso's salary not the Lotus team.

If it's on Gazzetta, it's official Ferrari news. It's done.

"E mercoledì è atteso l'annuncio di Raikkonen"

They chat how Singapore is the last hope for their championship, already concertrating on 2014, and on Wednesday Raikkonen will be announced.

They wanted Alonso and Webber for 2013, doesn't seem particularly outrageous to me. They have the likes of Bianchi in the pipeline for the future and Alonso/Raikkonen is the best possible line-up for the present.
