This is how it starts.

Note to Mr. Cooper. You were wrong about the length of the deal, matey...

Yup, I tweeted him yesterday when he said it was 1+1. I got this in a private message:

I am sure your source is closer to Ferrari than mine...

Needless to say, I tweeted a little bit of friendly gloating to him just now   ;)

So #Kimi is off to #Ferrari for 2014; it hurts a little bit… #F1 #Raikkonen pic.twitter.com/HkFhWvqpTo

that was fun to see right after it become official

Aww. I feel for them. The past 1.5yrs have been good; not sure the Ferrari twitter team has the same sense of humour.

Why?

Lotus took a risk hiring Kimi, I for one am thankful for that. They gave him the opportunity to show everyone he still had it, and as a result this whole unfinnished stint at Ferrari can be put to rest. Karma!

After the initial rumors I was thinking it would make the most sense with a 2 year contract and that's exactly what happened.

Ferrari are now dangerous again.

Whether that is to themselves or their competitors, remains to be seen.

Come on dude, the TS put up all the stats except for this one which he obviously forgot, so I reminded him.

No harm. I'm a Ferrari fan, I don't care which of the two cars wins, as long as one wins, however, I do have a softer spot for Kimi.

Forza Ferrari. :smoking:

Respect to both parties for not allowing ego to get in the way of a sensible partnership. In particular, to LdM.

So where are all those that said "NOT, ever going to happen!" ???

I'm certain one even sore his life on it.

I never thought it would happen, Pekka Franck deserves some real credit.

Absolutely correct. Now they have the drivers. It's all about getting that development team to gel results.

Sky reports a 2 year deal with a "1 year break clause" what on earth does that mean ???

Gonna be very interesting to see who gets the upper hand between the 2 of them, it could be very very close !

A performance clause probably, I think they're fairly common these days unless I'm mistaken.

Great! Now I can finally support a driver that I kinda like. I just couldn't get over him driving for the black-and-brownishyellow-fag-packet team...their name escapes me.

Now I'll have two teams to support next year! Twice the chance of having a good race!

Too true, takes a lot of balls to admit fault with his once loved strategy of a single rooster. Respect to LDM.

I really wish we knew more about these performance clauses.  It'd be super interesting to hear whether it was on the driver or the team.

Why couldn't he just say Kimi, instead of this haha.

I doubt Alonso will be very happy about this, but all F1 fans probably are

OSX, I pointed out Adam Coopers mistake with the 1+1. You know what he replied me in a private message?

one plus one is two. are you completely stupid?

Classy, Mr. Cooper... That is not what 1+1 means in this context.

I would understand it as 1+1, with the 2nd year being automatic if nothing is said against it, but I'm not sure

If I am not mistaken, that means 1+1 - but I don't want to be subject to the same type of abuse as Adam Cooper has, so I want to clarify that it is just my understanding of what "1 year break clause" means and that I am happy to be corrected here if I am wrong

As per sky sports Adam Cooper was right, it's 1+1 year deal with performance clauses not an outright two year deal

For the first time in God knows how many years, the "Lewis vs ..." Thread won't be the biggest on the board. Finally we Lewis fans might get some peace, as I am sure the "Kimi vs Alonso" thread will be an absolute wasteland.

Good luck mods :D
