OSX, I pointed out Adam Coopers mistake with the 1+1. You know what he replied me in a private message?

Classy, Mr. Cooper... That is not what 1+1 means in this context.

He might be right. The second year might be optional, since reportedly the deal has a break clause.

This is great news! SF will have a mega-lineup next season. This is kinda a F1 fan´s wet dream come true :)

What I do find very odd is the incredible hostility at thescuderia.net. Loads of people apparently just loath Kimi (and his fans) yet claim to be tifosi...

Now it's up to Ferrari to deliver for the first time in 6 years. Guaranteed WCC if they get it together.

I guess the 2 year with a break clause means that if they dont want Kimi for the 2nd year, they dont have to pay him not to race...

Great news for F1. Will be staying well clear of the Nando vs. Kimster thread though.

Well which of us ever thought this would happen a season ago? It's still a bit of a shock & I can't wait to see him in those red overalls again!

Things ended badly with Ferrari but Kimi's time with them is strewn with great memories! So it's back to hoping that he will have those again at Ferrari!

One thing though - this driver announcement kind of kills any hype that was left for 2013 because we're all now waiting for 2014 - I really hope the racing takes a turn for the best this season so that it's a complete boring shambles!

Byron Young @byronf1 3m

Congratulations to Stefano Domenicali. The way I hear it he pushed for it and Montezemolo didn't want Kimi #F1

If true, then indeed a big  to Stefano. I've disliked - or misunderstood? - some of his moves, but this is a great feat indeed.

This is a fantastic line-up for next year. Raikkonen and Alonso driving for Ferrari? Who'd have thought that would ever happen? Very excited to see how this goes. I'm keeping my proverbial fingers crossed that Ferrari will be able to give these two guys a car they can use to challenge for the WDC.

Interesting to hear him being so eager, and for him to mention strong bonds is really telling.

Wonder how Lotus garage will react on it tho...

It could mean many things.  If Kimi doesn't perform well, he could be out.  If Ferrari doesn't produce a car good enough, Kimi would leave.  Etc.

I'm 100% sure it doesn't have any break clauses, otherwise they wouldn't announce it as 2 years deal. Both parties would look stupid (again) if they announced 2 year deal and Kimi left after 1 season.

Good luck mods :D

Don't be so sure, if Merc brings out a monster of a car next year it could all revolve around Lewis vs Nico... :p

... which I am sure would be a nice problem to have for Merc, Lewis and Nico Supporters!

Well I'm really sad that he left my favourite team, cause he was great asset.

Yet I wish him all the best, Alonso as teammate will be way more demanding challenge than Grosjean at Lotus. I wish that he would have there a car, at least capable of winning WDC in 2014. Hopefully Lotus drivers will sometimes pay a visit to numerous (hopefully) Kimi's podiums.

Also I would like to say Thank You, you gave me plenty of good memories through these 2 years. Hopefully new season will be even more succesful than the current and the previous.

Thank you.

I'm already bored by the 2013 season, just the thought of having Alonso and Kimi as teammates next year makes me want to fast-forward to the first race right away!

Yes they are. However the stinging dislike towards Kimi is just reeking in that particular forum. Doubly odd is that Fernando´s comment to the Renault team after his 1st departure seems to have gone totally unnoticed (ie. as long as the winning car is not red...).

No, there are people there that just dislike Kimi, sadly.

But I'm happy here at Autosport, people surprisingly are more civil than 90% of the F1 forums out there...

YES YES YES Y ESY YES YESSSS!!!! finally it is official!

I think it makes a lot of sense. Kimi wants to drive a Ferrari and Ferrari can get more from Kimi and they need another good driver. A big thank you to Ferrari providing us with one of the most exciting driver pairings for a long time. Ferrari might just win the WDC and WCC next year. All the best to Kimi and Alonso as well. This is exciting.

And all the best to Lotus Renault as well. It has been 2 good years with a nice team. Hope they get a good replacement for next year and can remain as a good team.

Well, some comments from some people who claim to be Raikkonen fans are not exactly what you would welcome at a team forum like that one. Plus being a Ferrari supporter and being a supporter of a certain driver, even if he drives for Ferrari, is not the same thing - or do you think that Alonso did not get his critics among the Tifosi?

Would someone please translate that Kimis quote.

In short..

Kimi comments on his maranello 2014 return

- Im truly happy comming back to Maranello, having been there for 3 fantastic years.

- I cant wait to get back to driving the red car and to continue the work with those people whom ive grown to have such strong bonds with. Im also looking forward to working with Fernando whom I hold as a great driver, and with whom we intend to give the team the success it deserves.

or something similar.. my finnish is a bit rusty.

He is saying that he is glad to go back to the team where he won the title. Still has great memories and good relationships with a lot of the team members. Can't wait to get to drive the red car again.

It didn't go unnoticed among the Tifosi, trust me. And Raikkonen's comments about him not missing anyone in the Red team and being relieved to leave will not have gone unnoticed either. But it is a matter of time and of bringing the results in.

Depends, if you look at the comments on the Gazzetta dello sport after each race you'll find many Italians saying great things about Kimi and how he should be brought back. And this happened also in 2012 season.

So, there is the same case everywhere...some Alonso fans hate Kimi and some Kimi fans hate Alonso.

Main headlines in Spain's biggest newspaper at the moment, right on top (somebody is going to ask sooner or later how the Spanish press took it):

It's a nice degradation for Alonso. Now his #1 status is gone. No convenient stirrup holder for him anymore.

Can't wait to see how these two will get along. And I surely hope Raikkonen will beat Alonso.

But Ferrari hasn't said anything except that it's a 2 year deal. Those British reporters saying it's a 1+1 is probably doing that not to look stupid since they've been stating it to be a 1+1. Nothing concrete so far suggests that.

If someone suddenly suggested it's a 0,5+0,5+1 year contract it'd probably be as stupid, until Ferrari announced it to be so.

It doesn't, you're right.  But even if the car isn't great, it could be an opportunity for Ferrari to make more of their situation than with Massa, who doesn't tend to do as well when thrown in the midpack.
