Hello dear friends and fans of the 24 Hours of Le Mans,

During this summer, after an e-mail from Armand de La ROCHEFOUCAULD (nephew of Sosthènes, who drove a BUGATTI in 1923), a (dream ?) team of MOTORLEGEND Forum open several investigations about this race and his results.

We have find that several cars and crews are wrong...

Today we have realise an article (sorry in french for instance) to re-establish the truth.

You can find all the story and research here :

http://forums.motorl...ead.php?t=46405

And a summary here :

http://www.les24heur...-et-corrections

or here :

Thanks if you have more informations to complete this great discovery and good reading.

Congratulations to you and your team on a fine piece of detective work, Jean-Charles. I note that in the summaries you linked to, there are several different spellings of the names of Armand and his uncle Sosthène:

de la Rochefoucauld

de la Rochefoucaud

de la Rochefoucault

de la Rouchefoucault

Please can you confirm that the correct spelling is de la Rochefoucauld.

Hello dear Friends,

Another investigation about this year : 1923

Marc a belgian forumeur have an idea that Robert BENOIST was the driver in the SALMSON  #33 with Luis Ramon BUENO at the place of his brother Maurice.

After more research we find the true. Robert was in the car in "le pesage". No doubt we have a photo.

Differents articles from newspapers of this year don't note the christian name of the drivers. But one article say that the 2 drivers, BENOIST and DESVAUX live the race after 12 hours to to in Spain for an another race.

In the results of this race, we find Lucien DESVAUX and Robert BENOIST at the first and second places.

Conclusion : Robert BENOIST drive the SALMSON #33 in Le Mans 1923; and his brother, Maurice take his fisrt start in 1925 with an E.H.P.
