SD : So do you want Fernando or Kimi to be your teammate in 2015?

SV : Huh?

SD: I don't like the yellow dye on your hair. Want to paint it red in 2015?

SV: Sure, just promise me neither KR nor FA stay in the team.

Maybe he had a little influence in the design? Never seen it before & it looks a lot better than the silver ones

To be fair anything is better than reflective silver when it comes to headwear.

I have been wondering for a few years now; why do the teams stay on European time in Singapore? Is it to aid the driver's concentration during the race? Because surely racing on Singapore time would be no different to a footballer playing in an evening kick-off?

They're only there a few days and the race is on at European time, so why change?

Singapore reminds me of Moncao--people whine about how there's no overtaking, it's boring, and then after the race it's all about how cool the cars looked and how much talent and strength it took to make it through the event with no errors.

This is true, I suppose. What I really don't understand is why much of the media folk don't change however. Jake Humphreys' 2009 blog included the following quote:

Anyway, back to my point about hardly seeing the city yet. It's all because at this race the teams, and therefore us broadcasters, have had to stay on European time, so the race is in the middle of our day, if you get my drift.

He then goes on to recount a tale of how he struggled to find a place to eat at 2:30am. But why? What is the point? If you have to cater for yourself why not switch to Singapore time and eat when you're supposed to?

The same reason. If the race people are all on European time, why would it be beneficial for the media to switch? They're not going to do a very good job interviewing a driver after the race if they are struggling to stay awake.

As an aside, I do remember hearing last year that some Singapore businesses near the paddock have adapted to European time to cater for the racegoers.

Some news about RBs gearboxes:

http://www.auto-moto...za-7735305.html

I ran it through the translator here: http://www.online-tr...ranslation.aspx

It seems as though Webber's gearbox was in bad shape by the end of Monza, and it was amazing he got the the end of the race.  I don't understand if they can change the broken bits though...?

Vettel's will be opened tomorrow under supervision.  I'm not sure if that's before FP1 & FP2 though   (he can run a different gearbox for the Friday sessions right?)

Flirting with the enemy as usual. I want to know what they talk about.

SD: He has 2 years left in his contract, but we have already taken steps to make him quit bit early. first step was signing kimi as u wanted.

SV:  So he still has 2 years left ... meh, i can wait 2 years, no big deal.

Sorry to keep going on about this, but the race starts at 8pm local time, so they wouldn't be struggling to stay awake. As I say, it would be similar to an evening kick off in a football match. I believe in Spain some league matches start as late as 9pm without suffering any noticeable drop in quality.

So in short, the convenience argument makes sense, particularly if local businesses are now catering for the F1 circus operating in European time. I am, however, extremely doubtful that remaining on European time is essential for the performance of drivers and media.

We're in for a dry weekend, afterall. Last chance for everyone to try to stop Vettel. If they can't stop him here, where can they?

no way they run at 11 oclock at night and for 7 (continuous) hours, so maybe he's doing it on purpose in order to be big on youtube ;)

whatever it is, what a lucky guy to stay in a hotel near or surrounded by F1 track!

If he said Mercedes had the best driver line up, people would be all over him for being arrogant.

Well Lewis has said he thinks Alonso is the best driver currently, so even if he were to rate Kimi and Nico evenly that still puts the Ferrari line-up ahead.

Probably, because even the new servers couldn't provide the necessary bandwidth to cope, they would simply explode quite literally.

Haha, surely Lewis thinks HE's better than Alonso? Ok, when they are in mutual-love mode he might even believe they are equal, but that still makes Britney<Kimi...

Well, on paper they have ( both drivers are former WDCs ). If it turns out to be in reality the best duo, has to be seen. Hamilton is just political and mathematical correct

Jet lag.  Your body doesn't acclimate quickly to the time change.  It takes more than a few days to fully adjust then re adjust once you return home.  It's easier on the body clock to just keep your sleep habits as normal so the adjustment on either end of the trip.  When the footballers are playing in Europe even starting later they more or less have the same sleep patterns, within an hour or two.  When you go from Europe to the far east your sleep patterns are fairly disrupted.  There is a 7 hour time difference between London and Singapore.  It's difficult to know how it feels unless one has done that sort of traveling.

You know what works well with jet-lag? Yup, Red Bull. That is how Mateschitz "discovered" Red Bull in Thailand.  :D

There's a difference between literally not speaking and not touching on a subject or avoiding it. I like Hamilton, but thought his answer to this particular question was not the best. The projections are not mine...
