This thread is my attempt to counter this, only post here the things you really like about modern day F1.
Two to start:
Firstly, we currently get to watch four (five depending on your view of Button) of the greatest drivers ever racing together.
Secondly, coverage of the sport is better and more thorough than it has ever been.

Well Button is not on the level of Seb, Lewis, Kimi or Fernando but just my opinion and i would agree, it's a great era to be watching these drivers together and we get to see Kimi v Alonso next season. I just wish we could have similar paced cars for the top 4 guys which would bring us the best racing, watching what Seb is doing in that Redbull is a bit depressing. I also have no doubt that Vettel is getting number one treatment for parts and support, to see Mark drop so badly year after year and to see his problems with his car is shocking,

The quality of the drivers, engineers and the calendar (without Sakhir, Yeongam, Buddh and Yas Marina).

Everything you've said, and i would say 5 of the best, five champions in any case, plus the new technology thats all to slowly being bought into things, the IR tyre cameras etc, one driver may be romping away at the front but there are some great battles going on trying to stop him, some decent inter team battles going on as well, and though we''ve been denied Vettel v Raikkonen in the same car we can look forward hopefully to Alonso v Raikkonen instead, which should prove to be just as thrilling all things being equal.

4 or 5 of the best drivers EVER are racing together today?
I like you optimism and benevolence.
Cheers

So true, the likes of van der Gaarde (who I was skeptical of), Guttierez and even Chilton (who had a good race today) are showing they are worthy to be on the grid. Agreed about Sahkir and Yeongam, Bernie is the world's finest con-man coaxing Bahrain and South Korea to build those tracks.

- We get to watch 5 of the best and besides that, other drivers that are right thereabouts and pressing forward.
- For those in the USA, Fox finally got the online NBCSportsLiveExtra working which means we can watch the race online, with onboards, pitlane camera, total track animated view to keep track of the cars or the main camera. Like Sky Red Button, but we didn't have that before and it is awesome.
- SPA! Suzuka! We've got two of the greatest tracks in the world
- Night racing! Great stuff.
- Roscoe - great F1 mascot
- Kimi and Fernando in Ferrari next season! You can't hold either back! It will be glorious.
- Jessica Michibata on race day. Enough said.

We get to see the making of a 4-time WDC - only thrice witnessed in the last 64 years.
2014 means Alonso and Kimi in the same team. I can't wait.

As said, we have a wealth of top drivers, compare the grid of 2002 to now. The only grid in my lifetime (I was born in 1987) that has a better quality of top drivers is the end of 1991, when you had Senna, Prost, Schumi, Mansell and Piquet for a very short period.
2014 regulations could shake things up, so many new variables to mix things up.
2013 has not been as good a season as 2012, but is far from the worst we have seen.

Personally I preferred that girl with the cute freckles in the Force India garage at Spa, but to each their own.
