Why was Paul di Resta classified in the Singapore GP? He crashed on his 55th lap, hence he had completed 54 laps. 54/61 is 88.5%, which is less than 90%.

It's in the details:

5.2 Cars having covered less than 90% of the number of laps covered by the winner (rounded
down to the nearest whole number of laps), will not be classified.

90% of 61 laps is 54.9, which is then rounded down to 54. Pretty close call for Paul.

Because it's calculated on the basis of 90% of the winners total laps rounded down to the nearest whole number.

Therefore, Vettel completed 61 laps which multiplied by 90% = 54.9 laps.  As a result this rounds down to the nearest lap so Di Resta is classified for having covered the required 54 laps.

Oh and an edit to say that dau nipped in the reason there by about the same margin as i was typing!

The Sporting Regulations state the following:

45) CLASSIFICATION

45.2) Cars having covered less than 90% of the number of laps covered by the winner (rounded down to the nearest whole number of laps), will not be classified.

As you pointed out, 54 laps is 88.52% and 55 laps is 90.16%, but 90% of 61 is 54.9. Could the clue be in the 'rounded down'?

Edit: Seems like it it!
