Hope it's okay, that I created a new thread for that.

I read few days ago an AMuS article about the costs within Formula 1.
And there is a new costs conflict on going because of the new high-tech equipment from RB, Ferrari and Mercedes.
Mclaren had it also, but they don't use it anymore.

The recent controversy sparked by the pit stop equipment. The top teams prepare in this area continue on, as if there were no tomorrow. Meanwhile, there are jacks, which are connected via an signal with the four screwdrivers. If they presson all four corners on the green button, the car automatically will lift down and the driver will accelerate.

The driver no longer looks at the traffic light, only in the mirror. Once he realizes that his vehicle is on the way down, he puts the first gear in and accelerates. In part the rear wheels are still in the air. The automated procedure takes half a second, but it costs 100,000 euros. Too much for teams like Sauber, Force India and Williams.

This is just crazy 100k for a screwdriver (is that really the right translation?).

I think that must be a reference to the airguns, but even so, £100K a pop seems excessive. But there is no point banning it because the rich teams will still spend their budget - if not on this rather expensive way of maybe gaining a tenth in a pitstop, then on some other equally expensive way of gaining a tiny advantage.

Funny. We wanted safer pitstops without tires bouncing around... The top teams develop a system to make fail safe pitstops and now it is to expensive? I don't think the price is out of bounds when you compare it to a motorhome these days.

Go back to the old days.  If they have to change tyres, make the driver do it.

If 1 second per race is worth 100k it's a good investment, if not the lower teams should be happy that the top teams waste their money on it.

I agree.  And using knock-on hubs and a copper headed mallet.

I don't see - literally and figuratively - the worth of a 2 second pit stop.

They really should just limit how many people can work on a car and give them spec everything pit stop related.

Yep limit the mechanics around the car.

1 guy for each tire and pneumatic cylinders that lift the car up after a air hose is connected to the car.

I think we should just blow up F1 and start again.

Given the mire it's got itself into, that might not be that crazy an idea.
