Tomorrow, Friday 4th October, will be the 30th anniversary of Richard Noble and Thrust 2 setting a new World Land Speed Record of 633.468mph on the Black Rock Desert in Nevada in 1983.    I was privileged to be part of the team that year.    There is a 30th anniversary gathering, which is open to the public, at Coventry Transport Museum, where both Thrust 2 and Thrust SSC are on display, on Saturday 5th October.   As a heads-up also, the BBC  area again showing "For Britain and the Hell of it" at 10pm on BBC4 tonight.

Must have been great to have been there - a tough slog battling against that weather though! With any luck, as the film maker for Bloodhound SSC, I'll be able to experience similar joy myself one day!

Here's a short film I made for the anniversary, featuring Richard talking about building and driving the car - we even got him back in it!

Thanks for that post Stefan.     Great admirer of your work and looking forward to your recording of Bloodhound SSC's exploits.   The Thrust 2 reunion was enlivened by crew members from Bloodhound and Thrust SSC as well - a unique gathering all in one room!    It was great to catch up with news and renew contact and tinged with the inevitable sadness that a number of Team members have now passed on.

Coventry Transport Museum are doing  a good job of looking after Thrust 2, which has been in their care, and eventual ownership, since early 1984.    The Museum has just announced the successful outcome of their £8.5 Million project to upgrade all the displays and included in that is to be a new Land Speed Record Gallery which will allow a more comprehensive interpretaive display of both Thrust 2 and Thrust SSC - as well as space for a third car!

Richard and John Ackroyd were kept busy signing books, posters, and T shirts throughout the day.

Excellent photos - great to see John Ackroyd. I notice Richard didn't try to fit into his overalls ;) Excited to see what they'll do with the display at Coventry. Sadly, most museums (apart from the Porsche museum) seem to be very pushed for space.
