@ivanF1 #F1 #Ferrari gives to James Allison the next 2014 car responsibility replacing Pat Fry who will have other role focus on track and others

Tron - if Brawn went to Mac, it would create enormous headlines, so I can't agree with what you have to say.

Everyone knows Newey HATED his time at Mac so I honestly don't think it's him, in addition he reportedly has a very long contract at Red Bull.

But my money is Brawn.

I am not sure who it would be but to me the most likely explanation would be Newey's right hand man/men/women.

As has been pointed out, they are probably feeling a bit undervalued - at the least in recognition - for their contribution to Red Bull's success.

McLaren seem a bit lost with Aero lately so it would seem a logical move.

Brawn? - I doubt. Why would he want to miss all the 2014 fun. 2016 success is too far away with Honda in my opinion.

Newey? - forget about it.

Fry?  - Why?

As I mentioned elsewhere, Brawn and one of RB's aero guys would be tremendous.

That said, if Brawn comes in, he will have to do it as the team principal. Is Whitmarsh on the hot seat? Is Ron Dennis as the overall McLaren boss thinking of his road car business, which really hangs onto the success the team can achieve in F1? This is an exciting 2014 silly season, as for once drivers aren't necessarily the biggest news.

Mercedes took to Twitter on Monday to deny reports emanating from Germany that Brawn had informed the team over the Korean GP weekend of his intention to quit at the end of the season. From Honda's side, Arari has now admitted he hadn't even heard the speculation that Brawn was on the company's radar.

Maybe it's someone like Rob Smedley "Massa’s engineer Rob Smedley is expected to return to the UK, most likely with Williams, although McLaren has hinted at some eye catching technical appointments and Smedley would work well in the liaison between wind tunnel/design departments and track operations. He is highly regarded by McLaren’s increasingly influential Sporting Director Sam Michael and it would be an exciting place to work, with Honda from 2015 onwards."  via James Allen

I've added James Key and Rob Smedley to the poll for reasons below, (this may skew the data slightly).

James Key - seems like he would be a good coup, and several people have suggested him as a possibility. I can't find any info which directly contradicts this.

Rob Smedley - has a direct mention as a possibility by James Allen and with fair reason too.

Sensible suggestion.  He seems to come and go with different teams.

I'll be very disappointed if the big signing turns out to be Pat Fry.

They want some fresh ideas.

Q: There are a lot of rumours around the staff movements for next season, not only about who will be your team mate, but also that there will be a top level technical person joining McLaren. Do you have any information on this?
JB:
I am not involved in any of these processes, and (team principal) Martin Whitmarsh would be the best person to ask. One thing is for sure, though, Ross Brawn will not join the team next season.

Peter Prodromou used to be talked about as one of the best aerodynamics geniuses but he disappeared completely off the map when he moved into the drinks factory. He really hasn't got a lot of recognition despite being the head of aerodynamics at the team that's now had the best aerodynamics for years under him. Before that it was his previous team that was the leader in aerodynamics.

Maybe he's ready for some recognition again and wants to move back to McLaren?

Would be kinda ironic, considering why Newey left McLaren. We have heard much about McLaren, Ferrari, Merc, Lotus, etc. staff going round but it kinda seems that not that much leave Red Bull. Might be just me though. But If McLaren gets him, it would send out a clear message. Not really sure if Pat Fry would have the same effect.

Newey hasn't been at a race since Whitmarsh mentioned a headline technical coup would be forthcoming.

I know, I know, its not unusual for Newey to stay back in the UK - and the reason that he is working on the 2014 car sounds plausible enough.

But who can actually corroborate that he is in the factory at MK as opposed to his garden...

AMuS is reporting Peter Prodromou is heading to McLaren. This is very good news for MaCa if it pans out.

LOL, of course not, but the amount of knowledge/info he already has from the past few years at RBR will help tremendously. I expect a strong McLaren in 2015, with Prodromou there it could get very very interesting. Kudos to MaCa for luring him over. Whitmarsh should get some acknowledgement for the signing should it happen.

Finally if it is true:  Whitmarsh

by the way. now start the discussion for his reasons (if it is true)

- RB is f*ckung bad next year

- the Renault engine is that bad so he thinks RB wont win in 14'.

Joke, i think we can't make such conclusions from his change :rotfl:

PP interview a few weeks back

http://www.redbull.c...romou-interview

RB: Do designers have a favourite car?
PP: I’ve got a few! The 1991 McLaren was special for me. It was my first year with McLaren so I didn’t have much to do with it, but it was the year in which Ayrton Senna won his final championship.

Should make mac fans smile

Happy for Mclaren and also good that this will definately put a chink in Redbull's armour.

Unfortunately it's quite some way off. If he joins in 2015, his first car will be the 2016 MP4-31.

Hopefully they can negotiate an earlier release.

Well Whitmarsh said headline grabbing

Finally some big names going to McLaren (and from Red Bull). If they announce some big names on the drivers market too, you have to give Whitmarsh some credit. Pitty that he didn't get Kimi for like 3 times?

great news, normally what happens is that high ranking personal bring others with them, so lets hope PP will do just that. There must be others wanting to get their name known, instead of newey getting all the credit, and this is no critique of him

Not quite confirmed: http://www.autosport...t.php/id/110552

A team spokesperson said: "Peter Prodromou has worked with Infiniti Red Bull Racing for a long time, he's a valuable member of the team and there's some considerable time remaining on his current contract with us.

However, bad news for RB if true.

First and huge blow in RBR tech staff, after being in a shadow of Newey for so long, now he will work on his own account. BTW he has contract with RBR till 2015?

We know all dream teams and dominations come to an end once. Ferrari's dream team started departing from 2005 with Byrne going to retirement.

I think Prodromou's departure could be the first marker of the end of RB era. Maybe Newey will follow suit after a few years after his contract ends. So it could be a transition phase for RBR in 2014-15.

It was only a matter of time. No one else in the design team gets a look in compared to Newey. He's mentioned in the races so often and shown on the cameras that you would feel a little aggrieved if you were the chief aero/designer and not getting any credit. Still RB should be fine for '14 as the car is pretty much done.....the in season development however could be a little impaired, but I would expect Newey to sort that out and Marshall.

I think it will be Peter Prodromou, a few weeks ago when Ferrari announced they'd sign Dirk DeBeer from Lotus, a rumour was doing the rounds that Peter had handed in his notice at RedBull and was going to Lotus.

Then Lotus announced they'd signed Nicolas Hennel from Ferrari, so it's possible that Peter is off to McLaren instead of Lotus.

Told you so :)

This is huge.

I cannot believe they managed to sign such a high profile member of the Red Bull staff. Like its already been mentioned, he will likely get more public visibility at Mclaren then he gets at Red Bull which is a circus run by Horner and Newey.

This signing could easily lure Alonso to join the team for 2015 or even 2014 so that he can be involved in the development of the 2015 Honda powered and Peter Prodromou designed car.
