Not trying to hijack the thread, but what kind of brake caliper is shown in the picture above? These are on a TOJ that I take care of. I was not able to find the manufacturer. Luckily the piston and seals are standard.  The pads are an odd size which I have had custom made.

You can allways try talking to the museum? if you find their e-mail. And no your not hijacking the thread. Strickly speaking this thread was not technical but you made it. And in the process we might learn what calipers Matra used in F1. thats good stuff

They were cars built by Jorg Obermoser in Germany. There is a TNF thread, Jorg Obermoser and the TOJ marques. He made 2 litre and 3 litre cars as well as formula cars, I believe FV, F3, and F2. I work on one of the 2 litre cars. In the case of the TOJ I work on, the caliper shown above are bolted to the side covers on a FT200 gearbox. However,  the side covers are different from what I am used to to allow the different mounting of these calipers.

Roger Hurst offered me a set years ago, said they were Girling and used on some 70s March &/or Brabham F1 cars.

One of my abiding memories of the Goodwood Festival od Speed was seeing the Matra contigent having lunch in the Cathederal paddock.

 

Lunch included oysters and wine as you might expect from the food loving french but the used oyster shells were simply placed on the rear tyre of the Matra V -12 GP car !

 

In today's old GP car hyped up market that car is probably worth wayy over $1 milion but the team dumped "used food" on it

 

I thought it was so french, and so nice to see a sense of proportion.
