Would be nice to know the TV- viewers stats

Well, they're probably in decline in the UK, Italy and Spain, while German Broadcasters have reported a marked increase in viewer figures.

Well that's the thing - the real racing fans, who watch F1 for the racing itself, will turn it on anyways. It's those people, who immediately lose interest if their driver is not winning, who turn off the TV set. And I'm not sure if F1 really needs that particular group of viewers. Two of the last three championships went down to the last race. We had 7 different winners last year and a nail-biting final race, but all people talk about is a domination that isn't there. Vettel has dominated the last four races, not even the whole season and yet people talk as if he's suffocating the sport.

Hamilton, Kimi and Alonso would beat Seb in the same car, it's not about being good enough as drivers to challenge because those 3 clearly are, it's about other teams being good enough to challenge Redbull and Newey.

OK get rid of the WCC. Get Newey to design the car that all the teams will race. One engine supplier, one constructor, one tyre supplier...

Happy?

You grasp of corporate economics is sadly lacking. In no way to do any of the teams have 'bottomless money pits'...

So you think that more cash than anyone else had nothing to do with their success?

Didn't help Toyota much. Or Honda. BMW had bottomless resources. Mercedes too.

Yes every sport and it's press need an idiot who opens his mouth -or twitter- before engaging brain now and then

Gazza, Joey Barton. Dennis Rodman come to mind

 ;)

Except this time it would appear the idiots are the unfortunately large number of people in this very topic who have read the headline and gone off on a sour little rant before engaging their own brains.  Unless you disagree with the following (because part of the problem of the thread going off topic seems to be that people are angry Hamilton is not as great a Vettel fan as they are):

"He has driven well all year," said the 28-year-old. "I've just looked at his points and he has had second, first, second, first all year. He's done the perfect job and he deserves it."

Again, back to the topic- do you believe that domination by one team and driver, and predictable race outcomes may be detrimental to F1's TV viewership?

A championship decider in a timeslot in Euroland that usually attracts higher viewership than other races....... we could wait and compare it with the Brazilian GP this season.

Would be great, if it were true. But it isn't, it was more like getting into a car that is faster than anyone else's and drive it.

Which is the point, isn't it? Mark still fails quite regularly at it. The thing is, that the Red Bull doesn't drive itself. It's not an automated Playstation game, like the Williamses of 1992 and 1993. The tricky solution of Red Bull to legally emulate an exhaust blown diffuser through Renault's 4-cylinder mode requires a completely counter-intuitive driving style that Vettel manages and Mark doesn't. The Red Bull would be quite an ordinary car if you can't adapt to the very specialized driving style needed to make it work.

it was the highest quota RTL had for F1 in 5 years

and since 2003 with  13,47 Million people watching at  Indianapolis, where Schumacher won WDC http://www.spiegel.d...t-a-267719.html

this means the viewership count nearly didn't change

Everyone can complain, but the only thing that matters is a solution to any problems. So the solution is that other teams simply perform better. Or if they are incapable of it, then FIA has to introduce "rules to spice up the show". Like the delaminating and dangerous Pirelli tyres early in the season, which slowed Red Bull down somewhat. But see, this doesn't get us particularly far either...

Ironically tyres were also the factor, which ended Ferrari's domination in 2005.

Let's see, what do the engines bring us next year. The last resort of hope for opposition and F1 fans?

Hamilton on Vettel's 4th Championship: "He has driven well all year," said the 28-year-old. "I've just looked at his points and he has had second, first, second, first all year. He's done the perfect job and he deserves it."

You were whining saying?

It's the typical "yes, but..." rhetorics, just read his comments after the Singapore race.

Is Vettel ever going to have a world class teammate? I really have no idea just how good he is until then.

Lewis is right, the Vettel domination is boring. Some people may be enjoying watching Formula Red Bull, but I'm certainly not. For the first time in ages I missed the first part of qualy and I was in two minds whether or not to get up and watch yesterday's race. I did end up watching it but the most interesting part about it was when the fire truck came out on track...at least that gave me a laugh.  However there was no excitement or anticipation because I basically knew who was going to win. There may well have been a good scrap for positions 4-8 but I want to see a fight for the lead, not for the minor placings. I really worry about how long this Red Bull domination is going to continue...could it last for another 2, 3, 4 years? If so then my interest in F1 will be killed stone dead...

I don't know why some people are saying that Lewis should keep quiet...he is only voicing what many people are thinking. I really am fed up with the commentators on Sky and the BBC who all sound like fully paid-up members of the Red Bull/Vettel fan club. I would like to see less of Christian Horner on my TV screen, for a start.

I must say I am enjoying the new, outspoken Lewis Hamilton. I agree with you Lewis...FORMULA RED BULL IS BORING!!!

Well his domination is all down to driving well, having the best car and not having a world class driver to race against.

He had for the last 4 years. Mark is a world class driver, else he wouldn't have made it to a top team. If you want to know how good Vettel is, look at his history. In his second Formula BMW season, he won 18 out of 20 races - in a spec series! He has scored more points for Toro Rosso than all other drivers in the history of the team combined. He is undoubtedly up there with the Alonso's and Hamilton's. Alonso is probably a tad better on race day, Hamilton a tad better over a single lap and Vettel is the most adaptable of the three. He just happens to be in a position, where he can use his specific strengths the best. It doesn't need a different team mate to know he's a world class driver.

Alonso lost the only time he had a world-class teammate.

What now?

Räikonnen lost twice against Massa.

What now?

Then stop saying that Alonso, Hamilton or Raikkonen would beat him. As you state.....you have no idea.
