I'm quite afraid this is the kinda track where there's no stopping the RedBull/Vettel combination, though memories of the 2011 race give me some glimmer of hope.

I'm still suffering of red depression. Don't think I'll be able to swallow another of electric vomit going unchallenged... Not that they don't deserve it, it is the best car, but still the most horrendeous livery.
No rain, no game...

If the wheather report is anywere near the 'accuracy' of those for the last three races, it'll absolutely pour down on Sunday

You make it sound as if this was still a series where you could have wet weather racing without relying on 3 hour 'let's wait until it's past intermediates' red flag period or at the very least 40 laps behind the safety car when the first drop of rain appears on mr Whiting's window. So does it really matter what happens...

I predict a Vettel win and most viewers changing the channel at about the ten lap mark.
if there was ever a circuit tailor made for Red Bull cars, it would be suzuka. so if any knowledgeable F1 fans expect anything but Red Bull domination, he/she should stop watching it altogether.
we watch F1 for the sport, we care less about who wins, there are 21 other drivers to watch as well. we are interested in the Non-Vettel championship (in Brundle's word)

well, it's really not so much as the amount of water, rather the 'changeover period' and bravery or stupidity of driver/team calls that make wet races enjoyable. come now, you'll like it too ... you know you do.

Indeed! Hopefully because it's raining! Be worth watching then, otherwise I'm not getting up for a dry cruise to victory for the all conquering young German

I'm not convinced this is nailed on RB domination (in qualifying) because Hamilton was the quickest in s2 in S. Korea and s2 is quite representative of the Suzuka circuit
I think this is a Webber circuit to some extent, I hope he can stop it being 19-0 in quali this year somewhere at least

Of course just like with the heavy rain, changeover periods can be exciting in any form of motorsport, but in F1 even they are becoming increasingly rare for the same reason. When my interest towards F1 started to fade more increasingly in the later stages of the last decade, I at least had the option to skip all the dry races and had the wet weather races to look forward to. Now there's nothing left as these cars aren't allowed to run in the wet due to lame tire rules and all the crap FIA insist on having. And even if they are allowed to have a brief go in the rain, for like five minutes before Whiting makes the panic call, it's mostly done at these ultra sterile asphaltdromes where's it's irrelevant whether you spin / make a mistake or not due to there not being any punishment (of course this also happens in dry)
The increased downforce also makes them easier to drive

Next year Japan.. next year I will be there for god's sake!
Why the heck Japan is so awesome?
about the race. It will be Vettel, Raikkonen + smn on podium. Might be the Grosjean once again. Only chance for a win for someone else than Vettel is probably his mechanical problems or incident,

Anyone else doing the Bathurst/Suzuka double? If so, anyone stupid enough to do it from the easy coast of North America?
Posted 07 October 2013 - 17:40
Just love the Japanese for their efficiency and diligence!
Although I did once get a bit lost trying to navigate Japanese trains from Hamamatsu to Nagoya airport
please continue the pictures/media content very enjoyable, Arigatou!

Would be if I was at home this weekend, but I'm not, so very unlikely to happen unfortunately. Anyway, yeah, the only chance of anything other than Vettel domination on Sunday is mechanical problems, someone crashing into him, or numerous safety cars stopping him from pulling out a big gap early on, but realistically, I can't see anything other than 5 in a row for Vettel

Looking more forward to this one than Korea. Totally expecting another Vettel-win (in the dry), but hopefully with Webber following him home. If Lotus' LWB-car works well, in line with how it was in Korea, I believe they will be the second fastest package again. Should be close between Ferrari and Mercedes, with Sauber right with them again, perhaps even ahead like last year. Button performing his season-best race or GP-weekend as a whole, this year.

Vettel is very strong at Suzuka and its one of the nicest tracks. It will be a pleasure to watch him flying through the corners.
(I wonder how man people would like to press a dislike button now. Luckily it doesn't exist. )

I hope Pirelli brought proper race tires and not that soft garbage from S. Korea that blatantly favored Lotus.

Doesn't matter what the timezone is, who's dominating, the weather. One must always watch F1 at Suzuka.

Knowing he could never again reach the heights of his grand prix adventures, Glorious Korea Jeep committed the only honorable act and sold himself for scrap. But his legend will live on in the thousands of tiny belt buckles he became, straining to hold back a gut full of Korean cuisine attached to F1 fans everywhere.

They bring the 2 hardest compounds (http://www.motorspor...s-13100716.html)
Apparently Mark Hughes thinks the soft tires in Korea were to avoid Red Bull domination (http://plus.autospor...-not-the-tyres/)

no Double DRS for a change ... like FIA could put a second DRS zone anyway
although ... spoon to 130R would have been a possibility. (...... and runs )
sadly ... we'll miss Kobayashi's kamikaze moves in the T11 hairpin

Korea S2 is representative of Suzuka circuit?

Well I'm not an expert, I just thought it was having driven both tracks on the game.
Suzuka has a quite a lot of sweepy front limited corners and only 1 big traction zone and which is similar to Korea s2
Ross Brawn mentioned one of their strengths being front limited tracks and I think I've also heard the Merc is quite pointy and on the nose which should suit Suzuka
I think you were implying I am wrong though?

yeah public transportation in Japan is complex even for Japanese. And except big cities there's rarely english explanation so shud be tough for visitors I guess.
nowadays twitter is alot more efficient
for me it's fun to see how F1 people enjoy Japan.
For example sth like this is nothing special for me but they find it interesting

Also Chilton riding bycicle in Osaka, Massa at club(?), engineers enjoying foods and shinkansen etc
lol what's going on? tweet by Macca engineer working for FI.
Dont know who that guy is but I bet the girls have no idea who either

I am actually quite interested to see whether or not Vettel will actually manage three Grand Slams in a row. Has that ever been done before?
Is Vettel's performance in Korea qualify as a Grand Chalem?
When Vettel came out from his 1st pit stop, Mark Webber was leading him. Mark went straight to the pit after that , but there were times he was leading Vettel, ie from the exit of the pit to the entrance of the pit for a single lap.
Any F1 statistician here?

Not this year. I mean they are pretty much the best anywhere, but the margins have been way bigger on circuits like Canada or Singapore, not on fast, flowing tracks. If it's dry and Räikkönen can sort his qualy, he'll have a shot at the win on Sunday.
