It is not about Alonso, it's the car and changes Ferrari did few years ago to their clutch etc...also Massa takes equally good and even better starts. Also during Renault years Fisischella took great starts and it was thought Renault has launchcontrol system...Kovalainen was even better starter of the Renault tests

It is about both Alonso and the car.
I think everybody have acknowledged that Ferrari car provides its drivers with great launch and therefore a great opportunity and momentum going into first corners. But it is Alonso that, so far, have put his car in all right places to capitalise on what the car allows him to do.

You have to give Alonso credit. He seems to analyze his starting and the starts of others quite intensively. He makes to most out of the perfect launch the Ferrari gives him. He is the master of the first lap. That's also true after the pit stops. Seems that Alonso is a little bit more aggressive on colder tires than other drivers.

He knows, the start is his only chance to gain positions easily, so he can compensate his difficult qualifying. Sometimes he is lucky as well. Singapore, for example: He lost to his teammate in Quali, but started on the right side of the track to pull his start stunt off. Had he started on the inside, he would have been locked down like Massa was, who had an even better getaway from the line.

It's the car,BUT one must give also huge respect to Alonso.System gives him a great start from the line, but everything that happens after that is all about Alonsos skill. He really is the first lap monster.Just beautiful to watch.Respect.

Interesting how Alonso keeps hands off the steering wheel during initial phase of the start in these videos.

He is holding the steering wheel at the very buttom and working the clutch.

Exactly... A car can get you off the line quicker than others, but after that it's all about the driver. At the moment Alonso is the best on the grid when it comes to starts.
