It's the thing with head-injuries... The problems can easily come back without you knowing it. :|  But lets not make any stupid assumptions before the reason is clear.

She had such a huge spirit, both before and after the accident. It was evident in an interview she shared with Susie Stothard about women drivers, it was evident in her post-accident comments about almost having a rebirth.

This really is immensely sad.

Very sad news, the attitude and courage she showed following her accident were inspirational and IMO her recovery overshadowed the accident itself and proved her a champion in the true sense of the word.

It would be truly undeserved if her death was as a result of her post crash injuries/surgery (such as an ananeurysm or stroke).

How very sad, RIP.

I find it very distasteful to have people suggesting suicide before the facts are known. Not least because, I would be amazed if it does turn out to be that given her actions and words this year.

Whatever the cause, what a sad end to this situation.

Guys, her name is/was

María de Villota Comba

and not Maria de Vilotta (not to offend anyone)

Let's show some due respect, she was awesome. Not many would have overcome what she suffered, and she did it with a lot of style. She was a pleasure to hear.

Her hard work in relation to the safety on the roads was pure class, interesting pieces showing the difference between doing the right things and the wrong ones while driving, we'll miss her.

D.E.P.

Could be an accidental over-dose or bad reaction to medication + alcohol.

Whatever the cause, rest in peace.

Very sad news. RIP.

The family‘s statement suggests to me that Maria‘s head injuries from the accident, which could very easily have killed her outright at the time, may have had a lot to do with this.

I hope the lessons of the accident will be learned.

It would be truly undeserved if her death was as a result of her post crash injuries/surgery (such as an ananeurysm or stroke).

Due to her injury, that is the most likely thing that happened since reports are that she called emergency services herself. In that case, she would have had extreme headaches that would make anyone call for help if able.

She was in Sevilla for a conference this morning.

A foundation called "What it really matters" was behind the conference which obviously it has been cancelled.

She did this interview on wednesday:

http://www.abcdesevi...1310110831.html

"Life is thrilling and i hope i still have many things left to do"

Her book "Life is a gift" was about to be published.

So sad and shocking. :-(  :(

I doubt that. The wording of the news suggests she made the call to the emergency services, which implies she was aware of what was happening to her.

Obviously she called the emergency services herself, obviously you shall not speak of such things before you know more....

Quoting Carlos García, president of the "Spanish Federation of Automovilism" she didn't make the call, her personal assistant (Arancha) was the one

"Lo único que sé de momento es que su asistente personal, Arancha, entró en la habitación y al despertarla no se movía. Ya estaba muerta. Parece ser que ha sido una muerte natural, pero no sabemos nada"

Very sad news for day.

She seemed to have put all her life effort on motorsport career and that nasty accident took it away.

I think concequences eventually lead into end of her life. Very sad.
