I am amazed at the amount of content you get at NHL.com, just surf around there and see.. If you want to see a goal you watch everysingle goal made in a game, and saves aswell. And their analysis after games are really good to.. And best of all, its Free..
I think F1.com SUCKS, and I cannot understand that they don't use the power of the internet more.
It would be such an easy way to promote F1....
What do you guys think?

Bernie sure do not want his sport be more popular and even makes it under pay walls

NBA Game Time - this needs to happen for F1.
HD streaming on demand, old classic games, etc etc.
A massively missed income stream.

Internet content just devalues the FOM broadcast licenses. Thats why Bernie fights till he's blue in the face to block any form of internet F1 content.
The absolute pittence they make from the internet lowers the value of the package they sell to the networks.

I hear what your saying but it's not like it would be worth _nothing_ if they were to utilise the internet more. But yea I get what you are pointing at, it's probably the way they see it too.
But for me as a F1 fan, I would love more F1 content on the internet.
And I'm not saying entire races, but highlights... as overtakes or radio transmissions, or if you could see the start from whatever driver you would want to see it from... I just want MORE content..
I don't think anyone would say "Well hey, now I can cancel my sky subscription because I can see the race highlights afterwards."..
People still want to see live races and the entire race.. Not just a couple of overtakes here and there.
I think F1 would benifit from more internet content in the long run..

The live timing doesn't even have current laptime and best laptime.. this is a pretty basic thing. You have to guess current laptime based off of sectors and it only has 1 decimal point.

It is the other way around. The FOM subscription is worth less when people can see old footage. Now they sell the library as rights to broadcasters for extra $$$. I guess Bernie is building clones to keep in power the next few decades.
formula1.com (FIA?) is mostly stuck in the Internet dark ages. Their live timing is using stone age Java. You can't see pit stop times, tire selections etc. It was made in ~2000 or so where that kinda thing wasn't in the rules. With pitstop frenzy it takes a few laps to actually get the race order right.

Formula One is still in the dark ages when it comes to the internet.
Still amazes me they don't fully utilise social media with an official Twitter/Facebook page. And yes, the website itself leaves a lot to be desired.
Sadly, I can't see anything changing unless it happened to make them money. Some things never change.

The problem is that Ecclestone the 'master negotiator' has painted F1 into a bit of a corner in the deals made with TV broadcasters which leaves F1 unable to fully utilise the internet. Look at how many years it took to get an actual official website to see how out of touch Ecclestone is with the online world.

Don't worry folks, all the old dinosaurs running F1 will start dying off and retiring in the next few years and, 20 years after the rest of the world, F1 will discover the internet.

im not to keen on the idea of using the internet more, to be honest i would rather there be more Sky Sports F1HD style operations around.
Im 19 and i love IT and the internet but still i don't think its correct that F1 should make there website more American in terms of NHL

Make sure you download a copy of the app now, it won't be long until they get a cease and desist letter from FOMs lawyers like all the previous free live timing apps.
