Master model maker Tim Dyke (MPH Models) has asked whether anyone can provide any information on the identity of the badges marked on these two photo extracts of the Ogier Astons at Le Mans in 1961.

The first photo is of 1 VEV and the second is 2 VEV. Tim knows that the "Z" to the right of the vent is the Zagato badge but cannot identify the triangular badge above the vent, or the badge below the vent visible on 2 VEV.

Can anyone help, please?

A "modern" photo, might be a clue for someone.

Just a thought, but the triangular badge appears to feature three horizontal scimitars - as featured in the County Crest of Essex - with three words above it which I take to be "Essex Racing Stable".

Regrettably when I zoom in to Pete's photograph on my PC things get a bit pixelated and I lose some of the definition, but perhaps someone else more IT savvy than I can confirm?

Thank you Simon and Pete. I shall pass on the info. Bjorn Kjer has very kindly sent me a more detailed pic of the Essex Racing Stable badge

The first "Kentucky Fried Chicken" franchise opened in Utah in 1952, according to Wikipedia, and went to the UK in the mid 1960's.  A funny:

We were in a tour bus in Port Said, Egypt, and our guide pointed out a KFC restaurant and asked what KFC stood for.  We were all wrong as he assured us that it stood for "Kentucky Fried Camel"!

I believe that John Ogier was something of a poultry fancier :p

Here is one of the shots which Bjorn kindly forwarded clearly illustrating the Essex Racing Stable badge. I have to say that it is the first time I have ever seen it illustrated.

Pedants' Corner: We call them seaxes, not scimitars
