Sometimes I feel like American Idol has bullshitted most of the first world into thinking that being an observer completely unconnected to a competition gives you some strange right to influence the outcome of it.

I really want to reign down insults from Mount Snobbery but I once got someone to pay for a weekend of racing completely on the back of an internet petition. 

 

But that was before anyone knew better.
