I'm starting to really like Seb.

As much as I dislike him and RBR, and as much as I am disillusioned with F1 atm, I have to give him the credit he deserves. He has been peerless of late, truly outstanding. Well done Seb!

Is there any interesting comment we haven't heard from his English interviews?
There seems to be lots of name-dropping starting from Gerhard Noack.

Looks like the predictions were correct and RBR threw a party in Abu Dhabi to have an un-rushed celebration. (Source RBR)

Good to see Vettel's dad there, seems like a good bloke.
Looked proud ofcourse, his son is a gun.

Vettel is now part of the furniture, but turned up unannounced when he visited for the first time during the summer of 2005. “He was part of our junior driver programme at the time,” says team principal Christian Horner, “and had just obtained his road licence. One of the very first things he did was to jump in his car, drive from his home in Germany to Milton Keynes and turn up at the door to see whether he could have a look around. We had quite a few youngsters on our scheme at the time, 16 or 18 of them, but he was the only one with the initiative to come to the F1 factory and introduce himself. I was impressed by that.”

I just re-watched my recording at home of the Indian GP - I hadn't seen it before. I was pretty amazed at how much of a build up Sebastian got in the USA getting his 4th WDC. They did it up much better than Sky - it was really awesome. If you can get a copy of that recording (youtube?) check out the ending and the F1 Extra. Anyway, it made me realize what an amazing achievement Sebastian had accomplished, all over again. Really, truly brilliant. I've watched a long time, and maybe present things just get greater and greater because they are fresher in our memory - but this was really awesome multiple win.

Will Sebastian tie Schumacher's record for 5 WDCs in a row?
If anyone can... he is certainly one. He has a good shot at it, having won 4 already. Is very talented, hard working, and as far as i'm concerned, GOAT of motor racing considers him to be good enough (so i wouldn't worry too much about opinions on internet forums), and it would take a fool to bet against the GOAT. Seven or more is another question. Very possible, but who knows? Alonso hasn't had much going for him since 2006... only in 3 years he had a car with which he could have won the WDC, and two were rather tight for him. Still, nothing he couldn't have managed if not for some silly mistakes at crucial points of the season. However, it will be pretty rare to see someone do as much as Vettel did, leave alone Schumacher. There are only 4 drivers with 4 or more WDC's. It is a very select company.

“I always want to be first, and to be better than the rest, no matter what I do, even silly stuff. I always want to be one step ahead. Driving an F1 car is nice, it’s a lot of fun and not many people enjoy such a privilege, but the driving on its own isn’t enough…" - SV
Damn good article mnmracer! This attitude is what it takes to win 4 WDCs in a row. Congratulations Sebastian!

I think if anything though, Alonso has shown his true talent fighting over the past few years. 'Silly mistakes' at crucial points have been the least of his worries. He's been working harder than most during races to get the results he possibly shouldn't have been capable of. I'm not Alonso's biggest fan as Hamilton is my focus, but I can recognise he's the most complete driver on the current grid. He's a double WDC too and that isn't to be sniffed at. He's shown his worth in many different scenarios. I don't seem to share as much appreciation for Vettel's achievements at this point, but its possibly something I will appreciate once he's retired and I can look back? This era has been so fake in terms of mickey mouse regulations, I'm slowly losing interest. Its fabulous for Vettel fans I'm sure. I'm just finding it all too predictable and easy at the moment and through a faint glimmer of hope I am hoping next season see's a couple of teams being the challenge to Newey and Red Bull. I'm not holding my breath, but there is some hope.

So the era with grooved tyres, two points difference with first and second, no tyre changes, cars not allowed to refuel during safety car until the pit lane is open, low fuel single lap qualification and single lap race fuel qualification, three part qualification where the top 10 would try to burn as much fuel as possible so to have a light car for the final qualification run and then they would be allowed to refuel to the original amount of fuel in parc ferme wasn't mickey mouse at all?

I'm talking about the present regulations not era's gone by. I didn't compare, I shared my present opinion.

It is all about engines next year, and those with the most money to burn to develop their engines, would eventually have the upper hand in the post 2013 V6 1.6L era.
Ferrari will probably get it wrong in 2014, but with unlimited supply of money, they would be able to upgrade their engines. Full homologation will only take place in the last 2 years of the turbo era. I believe more improvement could be found by potentially tweaking the engines than playing around with aerodynamics.

Depends on the car. I'd say if the regulations were stable for next year, he'd have a pretty good chance. But with these changes it's a bit open. He could easily have one iffy season while RBR and Renault get up to speed with new regs, and then in 2015 win title again.

it means "Show it to the guys..." but showing "it" doesn't mean the finger it does mean "show them what you are made of" so to say, cheering him on to beat them

Thanks, will track that down online after it airs.
Regarding the first paragraph of the preview in the link, It seems a trend with Seb that to some fans he is a grower, he sure was with myself both as a person and as a driver. Now, the only thing that I do not appreciate as much as I should with Seb, is that he is a 4x WDC, it still has not sunk in for me and I can forget he has that quantity of titles.

Kind of a non-article for fans, but nice things were said. Look forward to the special - hopefully it is not as shallow as the article OR let it be named, 'the town and people behind Vettel'...
Posted 05 December 2013 - 06:10
Well,it was a nice insight into the town Seb grew in.Shows where he gets his modesty from.I especialy like how the track he raced in hasnt cashed in on his success (I would have!) but still act normaly like nothing has happened.Stores like this convince me his down to earth persona is genuine. That is how he was raised and doesnt know how to act any other way!Still a demon on track though!

What don't you understand? Kerpen is about 30 minutes drive away from Heppenheim.
