Agreed that making donuts should not be illegal.

However, what Vettel/Red Bull are doing here is taking a metaphorical dump over the FIA regulations.  How ironic.

They are very lucky Mosley is not in power.  They would not be laughing about this with him in office.

Vettel advantage is so huge that he could be advised to start making doughnuts in the middle of the race to create some excitement just for laughs. :p

Anyone would think they are the first to have ever done them.

I have yet to remember someone blatantly breaking the same rule (on purpose) on the following Grand Prix.  Everyone has done it here and there but then stopped.

Vettel/Red Bull are making a point about not giving a **** for this specific rule.  No worries, the FIA will let this one go with their tail between the legs as they have always done recently.

All I am saying is they are lucky Mosley is not still in power.

That‘s alright then because it‘s not illegal. Check the regulation under which RBR was fined last week; it doesn‘t prohibit doughnuts it says you have to go to parc ferme after the race without unnecessary delay.

You‘ll see above that many people assumed that the FIA would automatically consider stopping to do doughnuts an unnecessary delay, regardless of circumstances, but that appears not to be the case. The problem last week was wilful failure, without any excuse, to drive the car back to parc ferme, combined with doughnuts, combined with Vettel poncing about on his knees and climbing the fence, combined with celebrating with pit crew, all of which amounted to a substantial delay and a clear, wilful breach of parc ferme procedures. This week, none of the above applies, he just did a few doughnuts and then went to parc ferme like he‘s supposed to, and surprise, surprise, the FIA didn‘t have a problem with it.

Vettel/Red Bull are making a point

Were this Alonso and Ferrari, or Hamilton and Mercedes, or probably any other single driver/team on the grid, you would have left it at that, and then go on to applaud them for sticking one up to the FIA who want to ban all the fun from Formula One.

What your entire rant fails to include is that Vettel was not punished for donuts. You also fail to include that Vettel said he spoke to the stewards in India, and following that he felt confident he would not be punishment. Anyone without an agenda could conclude the stewards has thus told him it would be ok.

Unless Ron Dennis secretly purchased controlling interest in the team, they would have nothing to worry about. :well:

as he said to Nico after the race in german, he was like "Lick my Ass" and just did it.... not sure doing it twice after each other was so great.... I mean on tv it looses it's spectacularity and some of its meaning on the other hand in Abu Dhabi ther was a different crowd than in India on the track, so it was nice for them....

as for the rules I think they are too strict, saw the final DTM race in Hockenheim and OMG the celebration there was AMAZING much better than the celebration in F1 ever was since I watched

if there ever is a game called Donut-Clicker instead of Cookie Clicker I want to have little Sebs instead of Grandmas to make them

Just another example of the FIA needing to remove those multiple poles their collective arses and lighten up. Bureaucracy at its worst. There was nothing unsafe about what Vettel did. Heaven forbid there actually be some personality and fun in this "sport".

Vettel should have gotten a 20 pos grid penalty for next races for thus unsafe on track behavior. (and to spice up the next GP)

I liked very much this second donut.

Vettel knows that he is the leading driver in F1,so he got this responsability of leading and is doing something that gives soul to this entertainment.

No driver is in a better position than him now to claim good changes for the sport.

If Bernie/FIA really have an issue with Donuts, I'm guessing its born out of snobbishness.

F1 is in the entertainment business and to penalise something that all race cars do for entertainment purposes from Goodwood to Daytona, is farcical in my opinion.

Remember, F1 drivers who never had a real childhood or adolesence because they ate, breathed and slept lower level racing, are role models for the next generation.. And we live in a world where expressions of emotion are less and less socially acceptable. Every time someone lights up their tyres, or takes it to the red line before changing up, a baby is strangled by a terminally ill kitten somewhere in the world.

As much as I am no fan of Hamilton, I remember him getting a stern telling off because he dared to let his tyres chirp on public tarmac a while ago, and thus apparently created a rebellious driving youth.

So sadly, it's not out of snobbishness, it's out of the ever more oppressive greying of society.

Hamilton got fined for breaking a law in Australia in a public road. I am sure if an F1 driver chose to drive at 200mph down a public road they would also get fined. Has nothing to do with what goes on on track

I remember Hamilton was caught speeding at 200kph on French roads a few years ago. Same happened to Montoya before IIRC.

Hmm, Vettel's doughnuts are safe, Webber's attempted doughnuts not entirely so, I'd say...

On a different note, doughnuts should be reserved to the winner of a race or a championship.

But that's only my personal opinion.

yeah, I remember that also. I can see the reason why he would get more criticism than a normal person doing it just because of the power of example stuff etc.

that's not close to 200mph though :D

@F1PitRadio2: Rocky,"Ah, you did your job, mate. You did your job, well done"
Vettel,"Happier now?"

@F1PitRadio2: Rocky,"Yeah, I've counted now, that's 125,000 dollars"
Horner,"And by the way, you can pay that one"

@F1PitRadio2: Rocky,"And Sebastian, you do need to bring the car back, OK? Bring the car back into the pit lane, please"
@F1PitRadio2: Rocky,"OK, Sebastian, sorry to be on your case, but to be clear, you do need to bring it home, OK, in the garage"

@F1PitRadio2: Vettel, "Ahhh, let me quote, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, guys, I know what I'm doing"
Rocky,"Yeah, I've got evidence to the contrary"

@F1PitRadio2: Rocky, "You did pretty good today, you did pretty good, though"
@F1PitRadio2: Vettel, "No, we were, we were, thank you, guys, we did everything we did, we did it together, this year, the last year, the year before, the year before, the year before, the year before, and the next year, WOOO!"

The fact that I secretly like Vettel makes me hate him even more...
