There has been a rumour going round that Peter Collins was a member of Hagley and District Light Car Club. Apparently the records from the immediate post war period have been "mislaid". Anyone on here know if he was a member and what proof do you have?

In Mon Ami Mate Chris Nixon includes reference to Peter and his parents being involved with H&DLCC although he doesn't specifically say they were members.

In particular Ron Lowe (as in Dellow) is mentioned as Chairman at the time and a great help to the Collins family.

The Hagley and DLCC organised a sprint in Westwood Park near Droitwich in September 1951. As reported in Autosport is was the first event at the site and as such would normally have been "Closed to club members". It was won by Peter Collins in a Caddilac-Allard. Hope that helps.

The table of results in Mon Ami Mate also shows him winning his class in the JBS 500 at the same event (Sept 23 Westwood Park)

There may be more information in Peter Collins- All about the boy by  Ed McDonough, ISBN 978903088432.  Does anyone have a copy?  Or a means of contacting Ed McDonough who may have unpublished information?
