Schumacher, imho, did a solid job in 2012 and was certainly better than in 2010 and 2011, but I also think he was kind of flattered by an unlucky and perhaps not über motivated Rosberg. Or let me put it differently: I think Lewis arriving at Merc has caused Nico to step up (again).

This BS again, of course Nico stepped his game up since the day Lewis came through the front door of the Mercedes garage, why should he? He drove against a seven time world champion. Funny that this arguments, with no basis, arises when Hamilton is matched by Rosberg, to somehow put the performance of Lewis into a better light. Schumacher drove against the lower version of Rosberg, Hamilton against the mighty one

and to add:  übermotiviert, is a special case because it implies you trying to hard to achieve your goal, and struggle because of that, so nothing positive..

Exactly, when Brundle suggested to Rosberg that he'd stepped it up this year he shot him down in flames.

Upon Schumacher's return, people thought that he was not as good as before. I, on the other hand thought, Rosberg drives so well! It really doesn't matter whether Schumacher drives great or not. What's more valuable is Schumacher's inputs in developing the car. He built Ferrari and Mercedes, don't forget that.
