Jim Bamber's illness has taken a turn for the worst, he can no longer make cartoons. Get well and Thank You, Legend. pic.twitter.com/0MmXIvvUwc

I was saddened to hear that Jim is so ill. His cartoons are one of those things, like Murray Walker that are just at the very heart of Motorsport and help make it what it is. And like Murray, his unmistakeable work contains so much warmth and obvious love of the sport. He is often irreverent and yet ultimately he laughs with it, not at it.

I will miss seeing his new work, and wish him all the very best.

I've loved his cartoons for decades, I didn't know he was ill and I don't know what it is, but my best wishes go with him!

I didn't even know Mr. Bamber was ill.

I have some of his figurines, they are so cute...

I'm going to miss his talent...

Saddened by this news. Totally charming man who had time to talk.   I have many of "The Pits" volumes and quite a few figurines including the early bronze models.  Can only echo SophieB's comments  :(

Such a shame. Always the first thing I look at when Autosport arrives through my door.

Been a fan of his cartoons way back since I started reading Autosport. It's one of the first things I look for in a new edition, and I'll miss them. I too own a couple of Jim Bamber figurines.

Wishing him the best in his battle against illness.
