So, who will be in the top seats in four years time?, do you think that Lotus and other teams have been saved from crises?, have a guess :-) . My prediction:

 

 

Mercedes AMG F1: Have won 2 world championships since 2014, one for Hamilton and one for Rosberg.

 

1. Lewis Hamilton, world champion in 2014
2. Nico Rosberg, world champion 2015

 

 

Scuderia Ferrari: employ Adrian Newey for his final few years until his retirement, won the championship in 2017, the year after Alonso leaves.

 

3. Nico Hulkenberg, won the 2017 world championship
4. Sebastien Vettel, no more world championships yet

 

 

Mclaren-Honda, the bet on Honda engines pays off, winning both championships in 2016.

Other than that, it's a prediction as accurate as it can get at this time. Especially about the part of Caterham and Marussia departures...unfortunately, if they keep up this 2nd league approach, jokes aside, this might very well be a  real possibility.

My predictions:

 

 

Lotus:

 

1) Mansoor "International Man of Mystery" Ijaz

2) That pizza-delivery-guy from Salt Lake City

McLaren. Hamilton, stayed with Merc for 14 -15, no WDC, had one unhappy year at Ferrari and has just moved back to McLaren.

 

Mercedes. Rosberg stayed throughout. 2nd in 2015 and 2016.

Sauber. Sutil brought back from another Sabbatical to save the team once again.

 

Williams. Hulkenburg came second in 2017 WDC and stays with Williams.  

 

Ferrari. Vettel moved from Red Bull to Ferrari in 2015 just as the Italian team started to unravel. Stuck in contract. Best placing 4th. 

Grosjean Won title for McLaren in 2015 booted out of team in 2017 and joined Force India, took opportunity to revive Ferrari. 

 

 

Alonso, Button Retired. Massa long gone.

 

 

Caterham. Maldonado essentially put out to pasture after a turbulent three seasons at Lotus, Ferrari and Force India.

Chilton still in a trailing team ever since Marussa went to ground.

 The era of customer cars.

Yeah, I think generally some things are pretty hard to predict about 2018. Looking at recent years the driver turnover has been great. I watched Korea 2010 F1 highlights on Youtube and while top team line-ups are still basically the same (!), almost the whole midfield and back-of-the-field has changed. Also what is the F1 financial situation in 2018? We might still have lots of paydrivers, yeah probably will. There will be quite a few guys we haven't heard about anything yet. Who knew anything about Magnussen jr or Kvyat 3-4 years ago?

 

I guess Vettel, Hamilton, Rosberg will be there. Hulkenberg too if he somehow survives the financial crisis and finally gets a proper paid seat. Maybe Ricciardo, Grosjean and/or somebody else from the current grid (Bottas?) if they manage to improve themselves and prove very good signings for a top team long-term. Same with Magnussen. However, the rest of the field, which means the majority of drivers, will likely have changed. Paydrivers come and go, Maldonado and PDVSA will not survive till 2018.

 

Ferrari will be there. I think Red Bull will be as well, at least in some form. McLaren, with Honda or somebody else, will. Others I don't know. Sauber and Williams have stayed for long, but future is open. However, I think the bases will remain the same, which is important. Be it Milton Keynes, Enstone, Grove, Hinwil. It is super-difficult to build up a new team from scratch in a new location (like Toyota at Cologne). Even more so there are likely not be enough investors over the next 4 years willing to do so in the financial crisis, they are much more likely prepared to invest into an existing team. Of course Caterham and Marussia and HRT built up a team from scratch, but it has got them nowhere. So the bases will be the same, just the question is who will be the owners of Enstone, Hinwil and teams like these.

Just took a look at my crystal ball and saw that the format for the inaugral PIRELLI Disneyland Grand Prix of 2018 will feature qualifying session that requires the mandatory use of spec PIRELLI wet weather tyres regardless of the conditions. Cars not reaching Q3 sessions will be able to start the race with whatever compound they wish, but the top10 must start the race with PIRELLI wets too. Those inside Q3 will also be unable to use the DRS, nitro-boost and shortcut chicanes during the opening 15 laps of the race. However, as the race start will be delayed by 2 hours if there's a higher than 10% chance of light rain during the race window (which appears be the case here), there is a chance that PIRELLI may be allowing extra allowances for teams in the top 3 of the manufacturers championship. The scheduled wet race of the season won't be happening until in China later this year where the popular dampers will be used either two or three times during the Grand Prix.

All 22 drivers are related to Romain, Max, Perez and Pastor. These four families and their backers have bought all teams and 75% of the races are now held in Latin-America.

What are you talking about? Vettel will be only 31 - close to his prime. Lewis And Rosberg will be 33, so they might be in F1 in 2018. I doubt Alonso and Kimi will be, though.

Kimi will have gone by that time, and probably Fernando also   ( they will be 38 and 36 , respectively in 2018 by the way )

I predict 2016 will be Kimi's last season in F1 and If Fernando still show some solid performance or still enjoy racing , his last season can be 2018 at latest.

Made some slight changes. New point system and all (Sergey and Max still score same amount of points though).

Other rule changes include:

 

• Passive-aggressive Quadruple-DRS which reduces ground effect too now and limits the car in front to the first gear for 20.732 seconds.
• 12 different Pirelli tyres (ranging from bubblegum to stone) however all teams are forced to switch to a certain tyre at a certain lap as defined by the FIA before the weekend.
• Fuel is banned.
