Because, if he's not, I'm really looking forward to hearing the responses to his radio comms next year with Kimi...
Do we know if Rob Smedley is leaving Ferrari with Felipe Massa?

It is rumoured he is (aiming to be) joining Williams in a senior role, possibly factory based. Still, it's nice to imagine the potential radio traffic...

Maldonado confirms several changes on the technical staff.
Smedley to work on a more senior position [?], not as a race track engineer.

I'd read that Pat Symonds will be in overall charge of engineering, and factory based; Xevi Pujolar will continue to be responsible for trackside engineering; while Rob Smedley will take a new post between the two, to ensure effective communication of the race team's needs to the factory.

Smedley vs Raikkonen on the radio would be fantastic, the characters are so polar. Unfortunately, it will probably not happen.

It'll be a shame to not hear Rob on the team radio, I'm not a Ferrari or Massa fan but my ears always perk up when their radio messages pop up. He's a charismatic chap and good luck to him if he is moving up a position, he deserves it.

I heard the Smedley move was regardless of whether Massa went to Williams.

How long has Rob been a race engineer? I'm sure by now he'd rather have a promotion than just do the same for someone else at another team.

That's what I thought too. The rumour of Smedley to Williams started way sooner than Massa talking to Williams. (...was that ever a rumour really? Didn't Massa say it himself?)

My understanding was that Slade would follow Raikkonen to Ferrari and Smedley had already handed in his notice long before Raikkonen arrived and was looking for a factory based job back in England

Raikkonen will partner one of Ferrari existing engineers (not Stella).

Smedley to Williams was touted weeks before Massa was linked with the Grove team.

Anyway, i'm sure that Smedley was confirmed (or at least rumoured) at Williams back in Hungary sort of time.

"Felipe, baby, stay cool. I'll put in a good word for you with Frank."

I'm surprised at the question given it was a done deal that Smedley was going to Williams before anything about Massa happened.

I can't imagine Massa without the extreme coaching Smedley does for him, also they are friends and I believe Smedley has the desire to move on from Ferrari, I think he will go with Massa to Williams, but we will see, one thing is almost certain if you believe the rumors in the Italian press, he will not be Kimi's engineer.
