Tickets went on sale a few days ago, already nabbed myself two grandstand tickets in Panorama, now I've just got to convince somebody to come with me!

I'll be going, last time I had tickets above the pits which i thought were excellent value for the price (plus security accidently let us into the paddock a couple of times). I will be camping at the Porsche Curves.

If I can convince someone to come with me then I'll come. Oh what I'd give to have a group of mates all interested in experiencing the ups and downs of a 24 hour motor race.

Just checked the Le Mans site.   Are the tickets really that cheap (compared to F1 @ Silverstone anyway) ? Is it just earlybird prices and do the prices go up quickly ?

As far as I know, these are the regular prices. The only tricky thing to acquire (which might set you back rather more financially) is a good camping spot; campsites like Houx, Tertre Rouge, Maison Blanche etc. sold out on the official website within minutes of the ticket office being opened, mostly to agencies, so you have to go through an agency for those and they hike the price up quite badly on some occasions and for certain campsites.

 

General recommendation: if all else fails, find the best offer for a campsite spot from an agency, which will generally include a general admission ticket too, and then buy your grandstand seating (if you can find good spaces available) on the ACO website. I'll be camping at Maison Blanche with quite an international group, where the ticketing is handled via an agency, and bought grandstand tickets in Tribune 23 (down at the Ford Chicane) from the ACO website.

The campsite in La Suze-sur-Sarthe doesn't sell out until late. It's quite good standards but you will require a taxi (Taxi La Suze were great) to and from the campsite as it is not within walking distance. Great little village with nice shops, cafes and restaurants.

This year will be my first le mans 24 hours. I was wondering what the experience is from a general admission ticket holder, the view, atmosphere etc. Also what way of car less travel would anybody recommend traveling to le mans from Birmingham, and past experience of the French rail network, ease of use etc. Thank you.

There are many coach travel packages around which would save you a lot of hassle, but if you want to go it alone then find your way to Paris and then get a train from there
