Seems like the owners may not have been too pleased with how things were being run either...

Jason Dial promoted, Steve Sexton leaving and looking forward to "spending more time with family"...   Which is suitspeak for don't let the door hit you in the arse.

Scapegoat.

 

Sexton's certainly no genius, but he isn't the problem at COTA.

 

Also, strangely, there's been a lot of internal turnover at COTA leading up to this race. Execs, managers, accountants...you name it. Dial was hired weeks ago to replace Sexton. They just made it official with this announcement.

The turnover is likely part of a housecleaning to get other people in the slots.   They've got some serious operational and marketing issues to deal with and replacing Sexton is one part of the project.  You can't have a business run with that many errors and still expect the top management to keep thier jobs.
