Firstly, hello there!

This is my first thread topic but I've been quite intrigued that Felipe Massa spoke to McLaren about a potential drive there from 2014. Given that he didnt go there (they will also have Merc engines as Williams will), could it be the fact that McLaren have openly been courting Fernando Alonso to make a return to the Woking team.

I'm aware that this makes the assumption that Massa would stay and Button be pushed out in 2015 but I get the feeling that he would have been cautious of the potential situation of being up against Alonso again in the same team. Their time together at Ferrari has not been great for Felipe, but whatever the reasons Alonso has outshone him thouroughly.

The Honda engine deal may also be a factor to consider, no one really knows what next year's engines would be like let alone in 2015.

Thoughts?

It seems more likely that McLaren simply weren't interested in Felipe.

Seeing Massa on track against Alonso next year will be interesting, as will Perez v the McLarens (if he gets a seat)

We've seen Massa on track against Alonso for many years now. Not sure it was particurarly interesting at any point.

It would me a lot more interesting seeing Massa fight for one time at least with Vettel...

It was interesting in the sense that Massa always fights Alonso way harder than what he does with rivals, sometimes has been ridiculous how very little will he has to fight against other drivers.

If by 'fight' we mean suddenly push hard when Alonso is closing, before backing off and giving 2 car spaces width, then sure -  he fought hard.

I still reckon he'll have his tail up when he sees either red car in his mirrors.

Nurburgring 2007 was particularly interesting. Can't think of any others though.

I misunderstood the title and thought the op meant that Massa was skulking around at the circuit in Brasil, running in the opposite direction anytime Alonso turns a corner.  :rotfl:

China 2007 was also quite interesting.

False. Massa is a tough nut on the track, go ask Button about it. He isn't awesome at it, but he makes life difficult for others around him.

Massa to McLaren was about as likely as Heikki to another top team after 2 years beating from Hamilton. As long as McLaren has Button, they don't need another driver who likely is not fast enough, and possibly also not reliable enough.. the reasons why Perez was dropped in favor of Jenson. Plus that the brit team seems to demand a little less from the britt driver.

If he sees either red car in his mirrors next year it will probably mean he's spun and is facing the wrong way. Unless you're talking about the Marussias?
