Such an incredible circuit, atmosphere, it's just so sweet and nostalgic to watch F1 in this track. It shows how this sport can still be exciting.
Interlagos is just that finale. A great finale. Please do not move it away.

Couldnt agree more.

Yeps. And it's mid november weather is great even when it's rubbish.
Posted 24 November 2013 - 17:49
then don't complaina about delays in the Q or Race
Posted 24 November 2013 - 17:58
very true, do not move brazil!
Posted 24 November 2013 - 18:00
agreed
Posted 24 November 2013 - 18:03
Definitely. I usually don't care if a circuit has tradition or atmosphere but I think it's important for the final race of the season. We need a circuit which can produce fantastic racing and unpredictable circumstances to make a potential title decider even more exciting. I really hope Abu Dhabi is not the finale next year.

do not move Interlagos from the last spot, and do not move the pit area / start/finish line to other place.

This track is fantastic. With Monaco, it's the only track on the calendar where you really see the sense of the speed. You see a lot of battle, some wonderful overtake, this track is wonderful

One of the best tracks on the calendar. Never throws up a boring race, and deserves the season finale.

Eh, rotating would be more fun. I wouldn't mind a Monza or Australia finale once in a while.
Posted 24 November 2013 - 18:25
Agreed, but we also said the same thing when Suzuka was removed from it's final spot on the calendar
Posted 24 November 2013 - 18:26
Agree!!!!
Posted 24 November 2013 - 18:28
Please not Abu Dhabi. A fantastic venue but the track is like giant parking lot with painted lines as track limits.

Any sane enthusiast would want Interlagos at the begining or end of the season, Winter in Europe and all that.
So obvoiusly it will go where the Money Men want it to Go!
Look at the a certain future World Cup venue to illustrate what I mean.........

Seconded, thirded, fourthed and fifthed.
Sixthed. Great track.

Abu Dhabi can probably write a bigger check. I'll be upset, but remember this is a business first, a political game second, and a bickering game between engineers third. So I won't be surprised if it those first two factors send the finale away from Brasil.

I don't really mind, we used to have it at the beginning of the year for ages.

Agreed. Once we get a few dramatic championship deciding races at <Random Track X> there will be those proclaiming it the best ever track for the season to end on.
Personally, I'd want the season to end with a winter race at Spa-Francorchamps, with only the main track cleared of snow, and Christmas lights on the barriers, but I don't think that is likely to happen.
Posted 24 November 2013 - 19:29
I agree! There's something about that place. It has given us great racing and season finales so far!

I agree. So much better than ending the season in a soulless, atmosphereless, thoroughly dull/uninteresting track that nobody likes.

The first thing what came to my mind seeing the name of the topic:
(meaning: sadly, sympathy not gonna keep the track at the last spot)

Interlagos is a great venue for the last race. But sometimes the logistics of the season and the money involved mean it can't be. It's not something I'll lose sleep over. I used to love Adelaide and Suzuka as season enders too. If you need a bit of hope it's that the F1 calender is always changing so there's every chance it'll be the season finale again one day.
What saddens me more is that with every year I watch Interlagos I realise that the safety levels of the Tilkedromes is well beyond what is adequate for F1 and there are loads of great tracks that could safely host Grands Prix with the minimum of modification. Imola, Estoril, Brands Hatch, etc. aren't that different to Interlagos in terms of safety.

Judging by the tracks in the snow, it seems the Belgians aren't too bothered by such a scheme. It would certainly be a fun thing to do if you're in the neighbourhood!
I think it has something to do with Americans playing Rounders, doesn‘t it? Perhaps an American member can help me out if I‘ve got that wrong. It makes logistical sense to back-to-back Austin and Brazil, but they want to have the Austin race a bit earlier in the hope that Ameericans will watch it, which they don‘t at the moment because of the Rounders. Hopefully if the proposed Mexico event ever gets off the ground they can move Austin to the start of the season and pair it with that, and Brazil can revert to being a stand-alone flyaway event right at the end of the season.
Would they pair Austin with Mexico, though? I'd suspect they'd both be fishing from the same barrel as far as spectators are concerned. Or maybe they wouldn't, I suppose it depends in part on how much of a hassle it is for Mexicans to get into the United States. I've heard plenty of terrible stories from Europeans travelling to, or through, the United States.
Speaking of the calendar, I wouldn't mind the European races being spread more equally throughout the year. What's up with cramming it all in the spring and early summer? It's not as if there's testing going on that makes logistics a big point.
