Looking at a walking website I found this fantastic selection of photos from a VSCC trial in the Lakes a couple of weeks ago. Talk about hardy competitors.....

I think it was the 42st running of the event. Very much in my back yard really althought this was the first for many years that I've missed due to holidays. Great photos although some of the info at the start is wrong. There are a dozen sections, 10 in the forests and two not, one of which is the famous Drumhouse climb at the Honister Slate Mine. Of course it is a  trial rather than special stages as said on the site. The object being to get up all the hills without stopping. Drumhouse is actually a lot smoother than it was 15 years ago during the time the mine was closed.

The entry of 100 cars or so has changed over the years with a good third being modified Austin 7s built for the job. You used to get some really big cars like Bentleys and 30/98 Vauxhalls but it's now smaller and less valuable cars now. They actually get  a lot of spectators despite the time of year and the weather.

A nice photo story on that site, La Sarthe. If you want to see some more VSCC trialling, there are some great pictures from the 2011 Costwold Trial on Stefan Marjoram's Flickr site:

Would like to do the Lakes-we did the Exmoor back in Feb-its on the VSCC site fantastic scenery as well!. My co- pilot unfortunately had the runs -but being a retired Royal Navy Captain did not give in and we went on to finish. Can recommend joining the VSCC -They have classes for any elegible cars-but you don't have to have a vintage or pvt car- there are club meetings everywhere-get in touch and I will try to help .Have retired my old Fiat from trialling and will only do bendy sprints from .now on .Looking for a good project to build a trials car -anybody want to ride shotgun? what fun !
