I don't think this has been done yet, so here goes....
It might not been a vintage season, but which race from this season would you rate as the best and why?

I can't remember any race, so good was the season.
Posted 25 November 2013 - 19:55
I'm undecided between Montreal, Nurburgring and Interlagos.
Posted 25 November 2013 - 19:56
Nurburgring was the most exciting for me.
Posted 25 November 2013 - 19:57
Hungary was the only one that got a 9 from me this year in the Bets&Games voting competition.
Surprisingly good dry race for the H'ring with great passes, different strategies and suspense right until the end.
Liked Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Monaco (terrific fight for 5th and further places) and Germany in particular as well.
Posted 25 November 2013 - 20:12
Germany, followed by Brazil and Australia. In fact, they were the only good races this year at all.

Posted 25 November 2013 - 21:42
Nurburgring was fantastic, so was Malaysia. However, because of the team order controversy, I went with Nurburgring at the end.
Silverstone was also very good, but the Pirelli dilemma overshadowed the race itself. Brazil and Bahrain too were both good races, but they lacked a battle for the lead.

The only one that sticks in my head is Silverstone, which says it all really.. It was the only one where I was jumping up and down on the sofa, having "what the f***" moments, and every leader seemed to hit a problem. Vintage F1, if for the wrong reasons.

There's something about these kind of crazy races where every leader seems to hit a problem, that makes for absorbing viewing. Think Nurburgring 1999, one of my personal favourites

This year I rated three F1 races 7/10 in the customary 'Rate the Grand Prix'-threads, unfortunately the highest score this year: Australia, Belgium, and Italy. As I noted in those posts, I gave an extra point in Australia for it being the season opener, and an extra point in Belgium because Spa-Francorchamps is such a fantastic track. So I suppose Italy is my choice, which seems fair enough.

Britain.
I genuinely can't recall what happened in Germany.
Posted 25 November 2013 - 23:48
Spain. RB struggled there the most.

Britain.
I genuinely can't recall what happened in Germany.
Vettel took the lead, seemed to have it under controle, Grosjean had a terrific first stint to climb to second. SC came out, Vettel's lead was erased and suddenly he was pursued close and hard by both Lotus, who also split the timing of their last stops in an attempt to have Vettel cornered and beat. Kimi got within DRS range on the last or second to last lap, but it was not enough and then Vettel won. IMO, he won twice in the same day. One race before the SC, another after. The SC, by the way, also allowed for very different strategies and plenty of drivers charging and overtaking in the second half of the race.
I've made my mind, I'll vote for it.

I genuinely can't recall what happened in Germany.
Three cars were separated by just 1.5 - 2 seconds for many, many laps, of course without the possibility of overtaking. That's the race with the most votes as the best. It just says how bad this season was.

I genuinely can't recall what happened in Germany.
There was a rather influential safety car period that had a significant impact on how the race unfolded.
Which is probably why I ended up giving it no more than a 6/10 in the 'Rate the German GP'-thread.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 00:02
Spain. RB struggled there the most.
They were pretty bad in China too, but Hulkenberg's slow pit stop gave Vettel some breathing space.

I voted Germany, because it was genuinely tense and Vettel's brilliance was in itself entertaining. But in all honesty i feel like I'm scraping the barrel here. 2013 was one of the worst F1 seasons I can remember. Hats of to Vettel though, he did a perfect job.
I just hope the new regs level the playing field.

Australia!
Posted 26 November 2013 - 04:07
Brazil, because now it's finally over.
Seriously though, no race really sticks out in my mind. The season has been that forgettable for me. The problem is DRS was sapped all the excitement out of racing You are expecting cars to simply fly past on the straights if they are close which takes all the anticipation and intensity out of racing. Ironic, as things like DRS were meant to "spice up" the show.

Germany, Monaco, Spa, USA and Suzuka. I had to vote Suzuka.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 08:01
I voted Australia.
It was the first race of the year, nobody really knew who'd come out on top in the race. The ferraris, the lotus' and vettel were in the mix for the win.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 08:13
I honesty can't remember one.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 12:02
Germany.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 12:04
Britain, Germany or Hungary
Honorable mention to Bahrain and Australia
Posted 26 November 2013 - 13:04
I can't really remember a race tbh.
I do remember Belgium was awful though.

there was a battle for the lead in bahrain, but only lasted 3 laps. probably my favourite opening laps from Vettel, sometimes, when I'm in my dorm room and have nothing to watch while having lunch, I pop bahrain's first laps up...
still, I voted for germany, for the reasons Atreiu already wrote down. and Bianchi's car rolling down.
honourable mentions: australia, malaysia, silverstone, hungary (well, more for the wonderful weekend I spent there), and japan.

This season was so bad, that I remember only last - Brazil. So I cant vote.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 15:48

Talk about selective memory.

Britain, purely for comedic reasons.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 16:14
As a McLaren fan, it has to be Brazil for me.
Which says a lot about the entertainment quality of the other races. Poor season all round, but they happen from time to time.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 16:22
Malaysia was fascinating because the results from the two sets of team orders were wonderfully juxtaposed, as were the reactions here. Thrilling stuff. In terms of on-track action I thought there were a few races this year which stood out as good but would go with Germany for reasons previously given.
Malaysia got the vote, but it might have been either.
I genuinely thought we had some great races this year.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 16:31
I voted for Australia.
Germany was good and Brazil was better than recent races at least.
The multi-21 laps at Sepang were good but I didn't think the race was actually anything to write home about aside from that.
Posted 26 November 2013 - 16:59
Compared to 2012 this was just a dreadful season. More one-sided, failing tires and a lack of changeable weather conditions all aided to that in their own way. Also a remarkable low amount of 'entertaining' accidents happened compared to previous seasons.
I don't think the Multi 21 situation provided us with a good race either.
It's hard to say which was the 'best'. A lot of the races in the second half of the second were remarkably boring. Australia, China, Bahrain and Hungary were kinda ok. I guess at the start of the season it's often better because you know less what to expect and it's the same for the teams with tires and so on, and it shows.

After all the bitching and moaning about the Pirelli tires during the first half of the season, it turns out it held the best races of 2013.
Imagine that.
Posted 28 November 2013 - 09:36
Don't know. Nothing really stood out for me.
Posted 28 November 2013 - 14:54
There's no doubt for me that, in complete contrast to 2012, 2013 was devoid of a classic 5/5 race. That doesn't mean it was a bad season though; Australia, Malaysia, Monaco, Germany, Canada & Japan were all good races. Surprised that Spain, which I remember as an absolute stinker, is doing so well in the poll.
Going to go for Canada. Although there was no battle for the lead, there was plenty of good action and, although I like the variables Pirelli have thrown into F1, it was nice to see the cars at flat out for the whole race.

I was looking through some old threads in the RC archive, and came across this old thread.
http://forums.autosp...e-race-of-2012/
Interesting how in 2012 there was such a great variety of opinion. Any race between Malaysia, China, Spain, Europe, Abu Dhabi, USA, and Brazil could all have easily been chosen as best race of that year, for different reasons.
And in 2013 we have... nothing.
In my opinion, there is little doubt that all of those seven races in 2012 were better than any of the races of 2013.
As opposed to 2012, I don't think that any race of 2013 will be remembered in 5 years time.

WOuld go with Germany. Though without SC, Grosjean could have better chance for winning, cause he wouldn't need to pit stop while Vettel would. Well but the race was awesome anyway.

Brasil. The last one. It was a relief.
Posted 27 December 2013 - 10:32
There were quite a few good races, such as Oz, Malaysia, Spain, Germany, Britain, Hungary.... but none of those stands above the other. For the rest of the races I can't recall anything significant happening.

personally austin, great atmosphere, with a decent race with some unexpected outcomes
