Well, no problem I think, and it's actually good that it's happening now, instead of during the Australian Grand Prix. Hope nobody was hurt in the fire.

Wonder what the details are that it couldn't be controlled internally and the Fire Department had to be involved?

You're right. I'm a little bit concerned that they called the fire department so maybe it was a big fire as we know test rigs are equipped with extinguishers and fire systems and what have you. So in my opinion that was some fire they were unable to control with the tools in their disposal.
I might be wrong though.

I believe you are obligated to call the fire department if only for insurance reasons, no matter how minor a fire at a place of business

Could it be due the lithium-ion batteries? maybe the same problem as the Dreamliner?

I was thinking about the same thing. Putting out lithium on fire isn't that easy.

Mercedes has confirmed that its engine dyno is back up and running fully, despite a small oil leak fire on Monday night.
http://www.autosport...t.php/id/111628
Although the description sounded dramatic, a Mercedes spokesman has confirmed that normal procedure is for the fire brigade to be called when any incident takes place.
The spokesman said that the fire was caused by an oil leak, but that the dyno was not damaged and work has not been held up as the facility was running as normal on Tuesday.

slightly off -topic, but the statement above (if entirely true) shows the vast gulf between forum speculations and the what exactly happened behind the scenes.
anyway good to hear everything is up and running and its business as usual.

I dyno if the fire department was needed, surely they could've just piston it rather than torque on the phone?
I feel shame.

Not only does this signify that Mercedes will never win another World Championship again, it also signifies that Lewis Hamilton has made the biggest mistake of his career.
