Rabat as nice as ever was blaming the fuel shortage on himself, saying he zigzagged too much defending against Lüthi. :)

Rabat's problem: cooler track temp meant more slides meant using more fuel, so running short of fuel & little wheelie caused fuel starvation

First things first: Congrats to the little Marquez for the Moto3 title, thoroughly deserved.

I love this track.

Who'd thought that Rossi would end up ahead of Lorenzo in the championship? Well done!

It's really impressive the way Rossi at 35 has adapted his style of riding to still be competitive, who would have thought replacing Jeremy Burgess would have provided such a performance increase.

Not me. Thought Burgess was God and that Rossi was well past it. As wrong as could be.

Solid season from Vale, just when we thought it was all over for him after the last few years.  Congrats to all riders for a great season (in all classes, especially Moto3!!).

I am a big Jorge fan, but Rossi had him covered this year.

Many strange deciscions by Jorge this season. I guess it is the realization he is only third best at the moment. Rossi was, over the season, stronger than him. Who could imagine?

Did you feel like that when Doohan was winning every other weekend, or Rossi year after year?

How to defeat Lorenzo: Spray some water at his visor, he'll panic and pit for wets. I really don't get why him and iannone pitted, it wasn't even remotly wet enough. This has to be Lorenzo's worst year in moto gp since he joined.

Some Trivia

Today Alex Marquez won the title making his 46th GP start. His brother Marc won the 125cc title at Valencia in 2010 making his 46th GP start

@Storris: @MotoGPJules Doohan won 80%. Marquez won 72%. Would need 15 wins from 18 races to overtake Doohan.” There you have the numbers!

Seems Alex Marquez has cut deal with HRC that if he won Moto3 crown he can have quick spin on RC213V this week

Doohan was riding a 500, different level, world and talent to Marquez.  And he also did it after nearly losing his legs, so he earned respect! Yes he dominated, but it somehow was OK, especially when he swithced to the screamer.

As for Rossi, he always made dominance somehow look interesting.

Marquez does too, but I would rather watch him next week in the Superprestigio, no TC, no anti wheelie, no launch control, no rubbish.

An in his eyes, I am sure he would rather ride bikes like that too.

I dont like seeing a guy playing with the field sorry, thousands do.

15 out of 18 is impossible with the current bikes and field. 13 is most likely monumental and I dont expect to see repeated any time soon.

I completely stopped watching the 500s back in the day, not because of Doohan winning but because of the non existant competition to him. Doohan dominated that badly because he was the only one left out of a previous generation of great riders.

I tune in now because it's great stuff, if there were suddenly no aliens left but Marquez, then no I wouldn't tune in to see him ride by himself.

Glad Marquez got the Moto 3 Championship. Miller is only 19 and he can mature, but he also needs to find some class.

Good end to a great Moto GP year. When on earth did Lorenzo forget how to ride in the wet - he seems totally spooked this year.

In 1997 Doohan had no  rivals. Crivillé was the only one who could have taken some victories, but missed many GPs in mid season. In fact, A.Crivillé won 2 races that year. But the truth is that in 1997 the championship was shorter (15 GPs) than 2014 (18) so 12 wins are a lot.

Still, Rossi, Pedrosa and Lorenzo are not Okada, Aoki brothers, Cadalora in a crap Yahama...

Random Moto2 stat. Of the top 10 finishers, 2 were Kalex, 5 were Suter, 2, Speed Up, 1 Tech 3. Next year, only 1 Suter on grid?

Indeed, but the 1997 Yamaha was not at the same level versus Honda than the one from early 90s. Cadalora was a fine rider and the best Yamaha by then but not a challenge for the Honda bike.

To be fair the Yamaha was never a bad bike.

Luca was a temperemental hector who never got on with any 500 properly. He won a few races on a Honda but never challenged Doohan. Was a 250 rider of great note.

Doohan very nearly signed for Yamaha in 97, was soooo close to doing a deal, but sadly it never came off.

Both him & Miller are going to be a force in GP soon, I'm sure.

without a doubt Marquez is the headline story in MotoGP...for the records, for his crazy style, for his approach, for his wins etc

We won this year a young legend.....and we won Rossi back. He's not finished, not by a long shot. Great to have him around

These BT Sports commentators, my ****ing god ... so Iannone 'didn't seem he would amount to anything' but Smith and Crutchlow are complete heroes. Horseshit.

Crutchlow is a legitimate 2nd-tier talent. Smith, not really. He was like 8th or something at one point and the commentators remarked upon his 'brilliant' ride. Yea, its been cringe-worthy all season long. Got beaten out by his rookie teammate, yet Smith probably got 3-4x the amount of praise over the year than Pol.

The British cheering in WSBK commentary is arguably worse, though.

Anyways, I don't feel much about Alex Marquez, but I'm glad to see Miller not win.

Has fuel ever been an issue in Moto2? Any chance Rabat did that on purpose?

And I think MotoGP this year would have been pretty dull without Rossi's resurgence. Even I'd written him off and that was one hell of a way to shut up a lot of us. :)

I had to record the races and watch them later, but I was really eager to watch the Moto3 race as it's probably my favourite class. I couldn't believe Jack Miller's attitude afterwards. He's got some serious growing up to do.

I like to see Melandri back in Mgp. I think he's ruthless enough to be a factor.

Blind Squirrel..... Yada yada......

Solid field next year.
