I don't like him. I still feel he deserves to be in F1. Just hope it's not in one of the Indian cars.

I don't want to be demoralising or anything, but it doesn't really worked out for kobayashi, and that time people even collected money for the cause, so...
Nevertheless, good luck!

Is the OP serious?
Do people really believe that liking a page on facebook is going to change the fate of a driver?

When you don't have a budget like Maldonado, I'm sure the next thing teams look for is how many likes your Facebook page has...

Same here; can't stand the guy, but to be fair he's a top 16 driver this year so 'deserves' a seat, but then so do plenty of others.

While we're about it, let's all write letters to Santa asking him to bring Paul an F1 drive for Christmas. Send your letter to:
Santa/Father Christmas,
Santa’s Grotto,
Reindeerland,
XM4 5HQ
but make sure it gets there by Friday 6 December at the latest
Or if you are in Canada it should be addressed to:
Santa Claus
North Pole H0H 0H0
Canada

Sorry buddy, but internet petitions have rarely achieved anything. I'd like to see him stay in F1, but the Ganassi drive in Indycar would be a better deal than hanging on the periphery. It's a shame if Paul does leave though, as he's not the worst driver out of the ones running around to the music.

What we need is one of those "can this pickle get more likes than Paul DiResta to stay in F1" pages to see his real popularity

I want to see him in the Target Ganassi car
+1. Indycar would really benefit from a driver of Paul's calibre coming over.

if you want it to work go to kickstarer, put together 10-15 mil and there you go. Facebook likes ... nobody cares about those.

It worked for that Kony guy, didn't it? Can't remember seeing him around ever since that Facebook campaign.

It‘s not a popularity contest, I‘m afraid. He‘s well in with the incestuous Coulthard/Franchiti clique, anyway, so will probably be eased into Dario‘s old car, which is a plumb seat and better for him than continuing to go nowhere in F1. If he can win DTM then he should be able to win Indycar given a top ride.
Incestuous clique?
What a horrendously negative thing to say.
He is Dario's cousin and families tend to look out for each other - nothing "incestuous" about it.

di Resta epitomises 'meh' for me.
#27
Posted 29 November 2013 - 12:09
After the Anthony Hamilton saga I went off the guy.
He's a journey man driver that hasn't really done much in F1 and doesn't bring shed loads of sponsorship. He's had his opportunity and done nothing with it.
Pity you can't "dislike" the page

This is about as useful as suggesting if my kids can raise £14.75 selling cup cakes he'll be a shoe-in for the seat. Actually I shouldn't say things like that... I'll have Eric Boullier round before I know it at the prospect of raising finances.

I like him, think that he's a very good driver but I would rather see him racing top machinery in IndyCar rather than stumbling at the back of the grid with a Caterham or Marussia in F1 (considering that no mid-fielder team in F1 seems to be interested in his lack of financial support right now)

I want Paul di Resta to stay in F1 but alas, "liking" a Facebook page is not going to make one bit of difference as to whether or not he does. Sadly I think Paul's days in F1 are numbered thanks to the teams' preference for pay drivers.

As with a few others I'd like to see him in an Indycar if not F1 purely to witness how enthusiastic and excitable he'll be in thanking Target and Chip Ganassi etc for giving him such a great race car after each race.

Posted 29 November 2013 - 15:57
Maybe if Paul was better he'd have a big sponsor backing him?
#37
Posted 29 November 2013 - 16:02
Maybe if he sounded enthusiastic teams might realise he does actually want to drive.
#38
Posted 29 November 2013 - 16:03
I think he's the new Nigel Mansell personally, not the driving talent but the whinging talent. When he nearly had pole at Spa he claimed all the credit but when anything went wrong it was everyone else's fault. I should maybe be happy Scotland had another F1 driver but he was one I just didn't care about sadly.
#39
Posted 29 November 2013 - 16:07
As much as I detest the horrendous term used over the pond it would make for fun if he did go to Indycar, with a team thinking they were signing the winningest driver rather than the whingiest.

Pffft with the facebook nonsense. Even some fan raised cash couldn't save Kobyashi last season. As for the general content of this topic, di Resta is just the guy the kids in the forum playground like to pounce on; the above backslapping trolling being good evidence of that as the comedians compete to outdo each other with their sneering.
Obviously he deserves a seat in F1. But there are quite a few who deserved a seat and never made it, and there are quite a few who are now racing elsewhere who should definitely be on the grid, such as Glock and Kobayashi. There is however life outside F1, so a Ganassi drive in Indycar would probably be better than any available drive remaining on the F1 grid.
