A good show

A friend bought the 120

The EE cars made £8.8 million

When is a CType worth more than a D ?

I know it's iconic but I'm amazed the transporter went for so much!

Yes, it'd have to be full of D and C type Jaguars before I'd stump up that much for it!

Does anyone know who bought any of the various lots?

I wonder if the American owner also has the '56 Le Mans winner in has garage? Didn't it go to Seatle?

I suppose this means they'll now go abroad. I don't suppose we can get an export injunction (or whatever you call it) slapped on them? After all, if we can save Jane Austen's hairbrush for the nation...

Although it's stratospheric price for a Sprite, it's still a relatively cheap entry ticket to Classic Le Mans, Goodwood, Silverstone classic etc.

The Sprite is a replica so not so easy to get into those races?

Build one for less dosh!

I don't think that it's been an issue so far but I stand to be corrected. Yes it's a replica but it has the chassis plate of the original (once again, I stand to be corrected).

I would think it would be worth trying for the transporter... it's a unique part of British motor racing heritage, probably more so than a C or a D Type.

Is the transporter that important? As I understand it the transporter came after the D types. It was not there when the team was winning major races.

Probably not in the overall order of things. However what schoolboy of a certain age didn't own or lust after the Corgi model? It was of course, as you say, later than the "glory years" of Ecurie Ecosse but I believe in many people's minds it has come to represent them probably more so than a blue D Type with stripes on the nose. And it is unique.
