Pirtek racing's team principal is Jordan's dad, right?

I think that is the exception.

Matt Neals dad is the principal of his team as well. In fact I'm pretty sure the majority of the teams are owned or run by family of the drivers or the drivers themselves.

Really? I did not know that. Interesting.

Well the Honda BTCC team is just Team Dynamics right? Which started out(?) as an independent entry for Neal. Or at least was back in the late 90s when I started watching.

But Dynamics is like a wheel rim company or something, that the Neal family runs/owns.

Can't find any 'horses mouth' info anywhere about this new team. All the press publicity is ambigious about the actual ownership and financial set up. Doesn't seem to be a works team despite the suggestive headlines. Intrigued to know where these "profits" are going to come from. All profits going to a charity? I'm sure there are more profitable ways to raise money than run a motor racing team.

With the build-up of rumors I thought this was like an Infiniti thing. Not just an Infiniti-based car. Or is the company involved/sponsoring? I'm not sure. It screams privateer/club entry. Not in a bad way just not INFINITI FACTORY RACING.

A few years back, there was a privateer team running Lexus i200s, but with no great success.  I wondered then why the factory didn't give them a bit of a hand to boost the brand although Lexus are reasonably well known nowadays in the UK market.

For Infiniti this would present the opportunity to show off a car that 99.99999% of British people have never even seen. Indeed most are barely aware of the existence of the marque. But given the lack of marketing they have done in the UK market, this is not surprising and I expect this will not be any help to them either.

Depends how much the drivers are paying to race for them and whether they're running any cars in the support series I suppose. Gow seems to think it's a manufacturer team or he wouldn't have given them the license.

Well, give em a while to get a website going etc. Some clarity should be gained then. Still don't like the charity title in the team title though. sounds awkward.

I doubt many people would want to know what a Q50 looks like. Have you seen one? It's hideous, mouth like a fish.

Interestingly, in the Regent Street Motor Show today (a bit of a disappointment, BTW) there was an Infiniti presence, with all three Infiniti models on show.  Who knew they made three models?  One was a bland and obese SUV called the FX-Vettel, which probably explains why the man himself has jumped ship.

Anywho, the display included a very bad mock-up of the BTCC car for 2015 - few stickers and a rear wing on a stock Q50.  The fact that it was on the Infiniti 'stand' suggests some degree of factory support, I suspect.
