Penske 1-2-3-4 in the championship next season? What a line-up.

Did not see this one coming at all--but then again, that would be just like Simon, wouldn't it? :p

Can't think of mush else to say, other than bring on 2015.

Monster line-up from Penske. Quite reminiscent of the old Andretti Green IRL team of Franchitti, Kanaan, Wheldon and Herta. Except with one extra oldhead.

I hope Schmidt-Peterson can keep the good thing going.

According to Scott Pruett's latest dispatch Sebastian Saavedra's dad got in a punch-up with his son's chief mechanic at the Sonoma weekend! SCANDAL. I get the feeling this may be one of those stories that only comes out once the driver has left the team.

Daniel Abt to Indycar seems to be a legit rumour. And then tucked away right at the bottom, the heartbreaking news that Jack Hawksworth is unlikely to continue with Bryan Herta Autosports, whose main sponsor did an SS United heading into the Toronto weekend and may not even make the grid for 2015. Jack the Lad is pencilled in for a second seat at Foyt Racing but anyone who's followed a few Indycar Silly Season threads will register the appropriate intake of breath.

Come to think of it, wouldn't Hawksworth be ideal as a replacement for Toyota-bound Mike Conway in the one-half-of-Ed-Carpenter slot?

Nice one to Mr Pagenaud, he really deserves it - a cracking driver who has spent the last 3yrs getting cracking results. 2015 will be interesting!

As if Power wasn't skittish enough, Penske hires Pagenaud. That will cause some unforced errors IMO. Helio and Montoya better enjoy themselves next year, and better be looking over their shoulders, looks like Penske is making a youth movement. I think JPM has one more year on his contract, if brings home the Borg Warner, he may get another two years, otherwise I think he's done.

If Penske can get the number 4, he'll have cars numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 which is quite impressive

I think the key thing for Pagenaud will be the ovals. He should have the pace on road/street courses as he has done up to now, but it's whether he can adapt to having a (theoretically) great oval car and making the most of it that will probably decide if he can win the title. I have every confidence he can, though.

Didn't Penske have the number 6 car? Isn't number 6 a traditional Penske number!?

I thought 6 was a Newman-Haas number?

Looks like Penske did use #6 for Hornish and Briscoe up to 2011 in IRL/ICS, but traditionally 6 was a Newman-Haas number in CART, and more specifically an Andretti number for about a decade.

Mark Donohue routinely used the number 6 from early on in the Penske days.

Anyone know where a Canadian might be able to lay a couple paycheques on Pagenaud to win the title next year? Bodog won't have 2015 IndyCar futures up until about 2015.

It was, but Penske had it before and also after.

No.  We have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 19th century and now girls can inherit as well as boys.  And of course we already have a female monarch not to mention several predecessors.

Now all the US needs to do is elect a female president to join us in trying to catch up with modern times.

Since the quote button still does not work on a routine basis, I've had to format in this manner.

Dolph post #613 "Isn't number 6 a traditional Penske number!?"

Xpat post #624 "What number did Ben-Hur use?"

Xpat, I mentioned Mark Donohue using the number 6 in response to traditional Penske numbers. For me, traditions can go back many years. I saw Mark Donohue run many times with the number 6 in a Penske car - I'm not sure how that is regarded as funny - it's a fact.

I was trying to make a joke about your age. You know, since Donohue's been dead for 40 years.

The topic at that point was tradition, I was unaware of time constraints on that. Hilarious you are.

Age has nothing to do with it, a properly informed 10 year old could answer questions in the regards to the historical nature asked about the number 6 and its relation to Team Penske. You do not have to live in a certain era to be able to answer questions about it. Which lawn are you talking about anyway?
