I think they were added after initial testing to help sort out the car. I think it particularly had oval problems?

Has anyone in racing looked into the golf ball/fish scale dimple theory? Especially the fish scale idea. Fish are generally slick animals, so the design of some fish would help in motorsport.

I remember Williams looking into this in the nineties but they claimed that the dimples got dirty very quickly and then the effect was gone... Maybe even negative.

Who's got the Sonoma thread, then?

Looks like some additional teams have confirmed Indy Lights participation for 2015:

You can safely add Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to that list, just a matter of confirming drivers.

Heh, it's good to see there are more teams registered for 2015 than there are entrants in 2014.

Wanna hear something weird? Indycar practice for Sonoma doesn't start till Saturday morning (Pacific time).

It's nice to have all the interest but the only movement so far is one of the teams actually in, Andretti, says they won't be proceeding with new cars.

why can't they get rid of those little side pod wing things behind the front wheels? Are they structural?

I thought those were nerf bars.

Some of these teams have actually ordered the IL-15. Note the absence of Rahal and Foyt from the list, for example. What exactly do you want, open wheel ARCA?

Direct quote from Brian Belardi: "I’m extremely pleased with what Dan Andersen has accomplished in providing stability for the Mazda Road to Indy, but he’s also been aggressive in moving Indy Lights into the future, and we’re behind him 100%. I also have great faith in Dallara and the recent results of the new car testing have been phenomenal. I attended the test at Mid-Ohio and was happy to see the car’s anticipated performance levels be confirmed on-track. I’m thrilled for next year and I’m excited knowing that we’ll have two cars on the grid, and possibly more.”

The cars are being delivered in October, we'll see what happens on the track then.

I dunno, what would open wheel ARCA be like?

Teams have never been the problem in Indylights. Finding drivers to fill them is.

Bijou Indycar Sonoma thread now operational. I've traded in my life of luxury and ease for a busy week next week so we need a taker for next weekend's big end of season anticlimax at Fontana.

Anyone?

I'll be too busy, unfortunately--might not even be able to catch the race live this year as I'll be working a race. Would love to give one another shot next year, though.
