I hope the new tech regulations won't turn up to be a total crap and won't ruin the racing we have left ATM.

Would be also nice to see some more diversity at the front of course.

  • Dreadful double points idea is dropped before the season starts.
  • We get tyres that I actually like (not sure what that would be though).
  • A genuine 5 way WDC battle between LH, KR, FA, SV, KM with Lewis coming out on top after winning the final race of the season.
  • Lewis to have a stella second season at Merc and to wipe the floor with Nico.
  • McLaren return to form with KM destroying JB, well and truly.
  • First wins for Grojean, Hulk, Perez and KM (unlikely all of them will take a win though).
  • Kimi vs Alonso to be a battle of epic proportions with Kimi finally coming out on top.

Plus many many more things I can't be arsed to list.

I would just like to see some great racing. Don't really mind about anything else if we get that.

Ferrari upfront fighting for the title, and the duo of drivers to be at least mildly close so we can have some drama and lulz.

At least one team fighting Ferrari so we don't have a feeling of domination.

Some fun racing with the tyres not ruining things and fuel saving becoming an element of strategy sometimes and not an absolute norm. A bunch of wet races.

A shock at the start of the season like Force India upfront or whatever.

One of the rookies to be really good and bring some excitement, possibly Magnussen.

Felix da Costa to somehow make his way back into F1 orbit and debut midseason. Frijns getting a shot as well.

Lots of blown engines and drama due to unreliability but at the end things even out nicely and no-one is too badly done by luck.

Caterham or Marussia to make a big step and start mixing up with the proper teams.

A 12th team announcing an entry into the sport, and all of the others survive properly in financial terms.

Oh, and in rallying, Hyundai to take the fight big time to VW and also Kubica to make a strong impression in the M-Sport winning 1 rally. I just want Ogier not to dominate as much and things to be less boring and predictable.

The FIA have a serious look at the aesthetics and lack of drama of the current cars and say "Hey, guys.....Maybe we're doing something wrong?..."

If Felix da Costa races an F1 car, it will be a disgrace and a shame for the Portuguese people. He is not good enough. He will just embarrass us.

I didn't feel shamed when Monteiro was making up the numbers at the back, when Lamy was getting his arsed wiped by Herbert and Fisichella, or when Pedro Chaves was getting 14 DNPQs in a row but whatever you say buddy.

I'd really love to see McLaren and Williams produce race winning cars and get back where they belong. Hoping for Bottas to really make his breakthrough and get his maiden podium. I also hope that Räikkönen vs. Alonso is going to be epic. It's exactly what we all have wanted to witness for the last 10 years.

In a twisted way. I'd like to see Ferrari produce a dog and see Kimi and Alonso fight to drag it from the back.  Would make for some interesting times.  not sure if it would be great for the sport though.

Based on something I just read in another thread on here... I hope Nigel Mansell comes back, so we can have a head to head with him and Vettel.  Then we'd see if Vettel is as good as Mansell!

Hamilton and Alosno to dominate the season and fight for the title. They go into the last race 49 and 47 points ahead of Vettel, just as they crash into each other, with both cars being out of the race. Vettel wins the race and celebrates his 5th WDC in a row.

(otherwise the FIA scrabs the double points rule)

My hopes for 2014 are very modest, I think. I just hope Robin Frijns can get a full-season seat in GP2.

I hope for this too. Except Vettel pulls into the pits with one lap to go and says "screw this bullsh*t" and gets out to have a drink with Ricciardo.

I would like to see Ricciardo or K.M have a breakout year, nothing against J.B or Seb, but it would make things more interesting.

I honestly do not mind who wins in the battle between Alonso and Kimi.

As a Ferrari fan, I hope I won't hear a word about "updates not working" or "correlation issues" and Ferrari produces the best car of the year. Then all my other hopes will come true as the season progress.

It won't happen. But with these torquey power units, even a semi-wet race could be quite interesting.

Ferrari to start of with a car as competitive as the F138 and develop it like the F10.

Mercedes to be Ferrari's main challenger for the championship.

Red Bull to drop back a bit in performance.

Maldonado to match Grosjean and shrug off the ignorant pay driver reputation

Alonso to edge Raikkonen (most probably scenario).

As for the WDC, may the best man win.

I'll add another one - another facet of Kimi's personality to emerge.

You read so many people on here saying 'he's not political' or 'he doesn't give a ****' but I'm not sure I buy it.  He has never had a truly competitive teammate with the potential to beat him at every race on ability alone.  It will be interesting to see how he copes with fighting Fred and if the perception of him changes over the season.

McLaren back on top. I've spent years supporting Button when he was piddling about in those Honda and Renault failures, and I don't want to do it any more with McLaren :)

Apart from that, the same general hopes of a competitive season with interesting races. Oh, and Vettel's car to end up broken at the side of the track at most races ;)

He has never had a truly competitive teammate with the potential to beat him at every race on ability alone.

That's what one thinks now, in 2013.

We didn't know that before the start of the 2002 season (I'll leave 2001 out of it) and even more before the start of the 2005 season - when half this board expected Montoya to either beat him or at least give him competition at every single race.

And then there's 2012, when certain posters expected Grosjean to beat him so severely that Kimi wouldn't finish the season   ;)

Every time Kimi rose to the occasion when meeting this pressure.

Perhaps being the a priori favorite versus Massa in 2007 was his biggest challenge!

Well, I don't know if we are supposed to wish realistic hopes here or not.  :p  Another unrealistic hope is a proper wet race like someone mentioned!

Realistically. I think the season will have been good if you don't get tired and bored of it by the end of the year. Which sadly happened in 2013.

  • a good Mercedes car
  • close battle between Rosberg and Hamilton
  • RB struggling and a different WDC. Nevertheless Vettel has a Alonso 2012 season to prove he is the best
  • Raikkonnen matching Alonso. Alonso throwing his toy out of the pram. Kimi instead eating an ice :p
  • Force India good for podiums, Hulk with his first win in the wet
  • minimum two engine failures per race, good old times, the race was over in the last round

F1:

Rosberg to dominate Hamilton

Räikkönen to dominate Alonso

Magnussen to dominate Button

some other champion than Vettel

lots of mechanichal failures throughout the season

lots of torque from the new engines, therefore much sliding under accleretion

difficult cars to drive -> lots of mistakes

Rallying:

some other champion than Ogier

a Finn winning the Neste Oil Rally

Hirvonen to puit an end to the Kubica hype

NASCAR:

lots of crashes

IndyCar:

Montoya to dominate the whole field.

Endurance stuff:

An epic three manufactor battle in LMP1. So good that it would make me watch more of that racing.

And Formula E to be a success. Just to annoy the "oil racing is only good motorsport" idiots.

A Button/Hamilton title decider

FI to have a crap season after ditching PdR

Maldanardo to get trounced by Grosjean

Loads of good racing and races

Chilton to prove he's good - ok, that's a bit of a long shot, but you never know

Personally I think Kimi will have the beating of Alonso over the course of a season, I really do think Kimi will do a magnificent job.
