Simple idea, put together a race calendar, in the order you want the season to progress, at circuits that meet the current FIA safety regulations or could reasonably be expected to.

 

1.- Australia (Melbourne) - Its the most natural place to start plus it has become like a tradition to start here.

3.- Thailand (Bangkok Street Circuit)

 

4.- China (Shanghai International Circuit with a new track on Hong Kong each one every two years)

 

5.- Spain (Catalunya)

 

6.- Monaco (Monte Carlo)

 

7.- San Marino (Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari)

 

8.- Canada (Montreal)

 

9.- United States (One year at Austin the next one at Indianapolis)

 

10.- Mexico (Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez)

 

11.- Brazil (Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace)

 

12.- Japan (Suzuka International Circuit)

 

13.- Singapore (Marina Bay Street Circuit)

Jerez would really have to be in September or April time. It's far too hot in the Seville area by June (which would be after Monaco where you put it, unless you're having Monaco in April).

A Grand Prix of the South at Virginia International Raceway before or after the Canadian Grand Prix would be awesome because it's a great natural, hilly layout, is within a 3-hour drive of my house and I could stay a few miles away at my mother-in-law's house. Take away India, China or Korea.

Say what you will about Hungaroring, but I like it. That little track has character. Circuit de la Sarthe would also be AMAZING, but I changed my France track to Paul Ricard because F1 would never realistically go to the Le Mans track.

09 - Silverstone (every layout change since 1990 has made it worse, but it's still very good)

10 - Hockenheim with altered layout, going straight from turn 7 to 10, making it faster and more like the good old circuit

11 - Hungaroring

 

- 3 week summer break, no testing.

 

12 - Spa

13 - Monza

 

- two week gap between GPs, 3 days of testing at Barcelona or Paul Ricard (whichever the teams decide) the week following the GP; two cars/drivers allowed each day.

16 - Abu Dhabi (one mid east race is acceptable)

My 20 week series would begin in February and end in summer, that way all the F1 drivers are free to run in my fantasy Can-Am Autumn/Winter series.  Besides it would be good to see an F1 race with some snow, not seen one since the 1975 Race of Champions.

Also I'm more about quality than quantity, value of one race needs to be greater...

Would love to see the Australian GP on Mt Panorama but I'm afraid it will never happen for various reasons (Paddock and pit space/ground clearance of the cars/spectator grandstands/accessibility etc.) Bernie would never sanction it. The same with Laguna Seca in the USA for all the same reasons.

 

jonpollak has included some fantastic tracks (yes you are crazy) in his seasons line up but I'm afraid we'll never see some of those on the calendar ever again with some of these sanitized Tilkedromes we have now.

 

I have to say that I would rather see the Australian GP in Adelaide than Albert Park though.

They'd bring tilke in to remove the mountain and flatten the land to create a bland series of nothing corners in its place. The track would go from hell to the new flat bit then back to conrod for the new super slow chicane at the chase.

Aida is called Okayama now. This isn't a criticism of your choice of it but I've never understood why there's so much love for that circuit for F1, seeing as it's essentially a club racing circuit in the middle of nowhere that was too small for F1. Nobody ever suggests equivalents like Snetterton.

 

For Austria, it's called the Red Bull Ring, and it probably would be a bit too cold in November. Other than that, I give it a 

 

 

As a general question to everybody, is Jerez really that highly regarded? I only chose it because it's the closest to me and I still haven't figured out a good street layout for the Gibraltar Grand Prix circuit. I wouldn't say it's the best circuit in Spain, and in F1 it was always regarded as a bit slow and twisty, albeit improved when the long back straight was constructed.

I'm keeping mine as realistic as possible, with some circuits I've included needing improvements to be in F1 (though I wish they wouldn't!). I've also limited to 20 races. 

 

1. Australia - Melbourne

2. Malaysia - Sepang

3. China - Shanghai

4. Bahrain - Sakhir (Outer circuit) - I hate this race, but for business we will need one in the Middle East, but make it interesting by making it the fastest on the calendar. 

5. San Marino - Imola - It would be good to have this classic back; I miss the F1 cars racing through the hills and olive groves here. 

6. Spain - Jerez - I think overall this circuit is more interesting than Barcelona

7. Monaco - Monte Carlo

8. Canada - Montreal

9. USA - Elkhart Lake - OK in the middle of nowhere, but this circuit is just amazing. 

10. Austria - A1-Ring

11. Great Britain - Brands Hatch - Modern F1 cars pootling round Brands? It would be amazing, and a great race to spectate at. Also very close to London. 

12. France - Paul Ricard (with the FULL Mistral Straight)

13. Germany - Nurburgring

14. Belgium - Spa Franchorchamps (with gravel put back)

15. Italy - Monza

16. Portugal - Portimaio (this really needs to be on the calendar!!) 

17. Russia - Sochi (this circuit does look pretty neat to me) 

18. Singapore - Marina Bay

19. Japan - Suzuka

20. Brazil - Sao Paulo

I do like the idea of Bahrain using the outer circuit. Not only would it add another fast circuit to the calendar, but it echos back to the 1930s and the high speed desert blasts of the Tripoli and Tunis Grands Prix.

F1 races held there were usually good (off the top of my head, 86, 87, 90 and 97 were superb), and the place is both a motorcycling mecca and consistently puts on the best MotoGP racing of the season. Mind you, older bike fans also rave about Jarama, which got very little love from F1. The layout is twisty but the corners flow together nicely.

You know it's a bit strange but in video games I always liked Aida as I was way faster than the AI in its last sector and the layout is pretty nice! overall anything but a Tilkedrome is a nice circuit sorry!

Okayama is by far my favourite Japanese circuit... that profile is awesome for sports and touring car racing. Also zero tarmac runoff unlike at Suzuka and Fuji and some others, and awesome scenery

 

Club racing circuit? What the ****? You suggest that championships like Super GT are club series... world championships have visited it in recent years too

Not exactly realistic if you want Brands Hatch It's too narrow and has limited scope for improvement, F1 has outgrown the place.
