This is of course assuming the McLaren is again comparable to the Red Bull. Ive followed both of their careers very closely and are very impressed by both drivers in the junior categories.

We can only predict how they'll do versus their team-mates. Despite Magnussen not having raced in F1 yet, I predict he's more likely to do well relative to Button than Ricciardo is to do against Vettel.

Saying more about Button Vs Vettel than Magnussen Vs Ricciardo

inb4 the lock, mods will say it's a not intra team driver vs driver thread.

Only because they're known quantities. But as Zava says, perhaps it's wiser to wait for the team-mate threads. Trying to predict how they'll do versus each other is pure speculation.

Id say as a whole their pre F1 results are fairly comparable.
Ric a Formula Renault 2.0 and British Formula 3 champion. Although only runner up in FR3.5 (in his rookie year)
Magnussen runner up in FR2.0 and British Formula 3 but Formula 3.5 champion in his second year.

Its not really a driver v driver thread. Its just a talk about the two unusual elects for the top teams.

There's nothing unusual about their appointments at all as they're both products of their respective driver programmes, which is to say they're in top F1 teams for the same reason as Vettel and Hamilton before them.
It's nice to compare their pre-F1 results but Ricciardo has been in F1 for a season and a half, making them irrelevant (and comparison even more speculative).
